by scott M. on The room was disgusting. The chair was old and ripped, the cabinets were chipped and smelled. The bed not made to usual hotel standards. But you can be sure that the second you drink from the room bar they are knocking on your door with more, and not in the "want to make sure you are having fun", but more in the "keep drinking because you are paying the rent." I stay in LA often and have to be honest, this is no longer the spot, not clean and yet still treats you like it is the best. There are many options that knock this into the second, if not third tier. The London, SLS, The Standard, The Pali House. Someone needs to buy this place and give it a face lift. And in terms of celebrities, if that is the thing you are into, I would say you have a great chance to see the people from "Jersey Shore" or "American Chopper."
by Kristal Frenger on I liked the concept (beds and all) -- the line outside was long and the place was pretty empty for a Fri till about 1. The night did get a lot hotter when people got onto the floor. I would recommend liquoring up before getting if you really want to have a good time. Btw, the bathrooms were pretty psychedelic.
by Katie T. on While Bimbos is another thing we can add to the list of things I wish I'd taken note of while actually living in the city, I think my introduction to it at the DevotchKa show last night was fitting. The venue, like the band, is magical. It's classic and luxurious, but with amusing details like the fish tank in the lounge. Also, I usually find that venues have some major flaw in their design--whether it is the size, ill-placed pillars, small bars, etc. Bimbo's seems perfect in every way, with a great combination of bar space, seating, and a large dance floor. I don't usually take much notice of bathrooms-dirty, clean, with or without toilet paper-I can deal with it. But Bimbo's has a really amazing bathroom.
