So I went here on October 30th for my birthday / Halloween. I was visiting from Chicago with a bunch of my friends. I spent about 2 weeks trying to find a good venue to go to, and finally settled on Gold Room (Choices were Tongue & Groove & Opera). We reserved a table downstairs and got 2 bottles of Goose. Francisco, the VIP Managers there, told me he would comp a bottle of champagne as well. We get to the door around 11:20PM, and the line was pretty empty. We get seated right away, and told the server to bring us two bottles of Goose. The decor inside was pretty nice. Although it was small, it's not really the size of the venue that I care about..it's the vibe and energy! I knew I was supposed to get comped a bottle of champagne, but they never brought it out. I didn't want to make a big deal about it (I could care less about a cheap bottle of house champagne), but it's the organization and principle that mattered. The Music SUCKED. The DJ was horrible, switching from Hip Hop, to Top 40, to a little bit of House music. The transition was god awful. I'm a big audiophile, I've partied in Miami, LA, New York, and everywhere in Europe. I know the difference between a good DJ, and a horrible DJ. This DJ was definitely sub-par. The crowd was filled with ugly dudes and girls. The energy was lacking, and it was pretty the worst out of town experience I've ever had. The waitresses are ugly, and the dancers have no rhythm. Perfect combination for a fail club. I didn't have much expectations of Atlanta clubs (maybe it's because I'm spoiled by NY, LA, Chicago, Miami, and Europe), but Gold Room wasn't a "decent" club. I tried to make the most of the night, so I chugged 4 drinks and took 2 shots all within an hour. Of course, this didn't do the trick.... Overall, Gold Room is a club where they try to have a classy atmosphere, but fail miserably. Will never go here again. The only reason this place gets 2 stars is because valet is pretty cheap, only $5.

I had my birthday at The Frying Pan. It was perfect. We didn't wait long for drinks, food or the bathroom. They even let my best friend in with my birthday cupcakes only downside is they close so early. Everyone enjoyed their food. The prices were everything you expect from a New York City bar, nothing really crazy. I love roaming the ship, it is such a cool environment.

I really really love this spot. The djs and atmosphere continues to evolve, but the prices have stayed great (usually no cover before 11, usually a good $2 beer special going on), the food has only gotten better, and when the sun and warm weather finally returns (one freak blizzard and yeah, I'm ready for spring!) you'll find me pint deep in their cute out door "beer garden." Ah, Silk City.
