Upscale Manhattan clubs are like a beautiful woman some age well and some become wrinkled by the time we are ready to propose. And if a woman could slow down aging by avoiding sunlight, club's lifecylce seems to be more unpredictable. In that context, Avenue established a new aging record by going from supermodel (aka, top 3 clubs on the island) to a crackwhore (aka, shithole) within only few months. Confused reception at the door, MIA service inside, sleepy DJ, mediocre and overpriced food, ugly patrons makes us club aficionados wish that the corporal punishment would be more liberally applied to those who destroy so rapidly what just used to be such an amazing value. We left shortly - thank G-d, 1O is next door and still going strong.

Took my dad here for Father's Day and he was in heaven. Being the Jazz afficianado he is, this place was fabulous. We got there early and got great seats. Two drink min but it wasn't too pricey. This is a great place to see some of the biggest names in jazz and frankly, I don't think I'd go anywhere else to get my fix.

Applied for a job here as a bar back a few years ago...they didn't like me. I haven't been to the place for an actual night out or anything, but my former roommate raves on about Popscene like it is the shit of all shits. I'll give it a go and see what it holds for me.
