by Brooke W. on You have to want to go to a club. And like to dance. And if you don't and that's just not you or not you on this particular night, you're going to hate this place. I think this is the best place to dance in Philly, which isn't saying a lot. Its peers, Denim, Pearl, 32 Degrees...all pretty much suck. What you hate about this place you'll want to burn the others down for. So if you think you're up for dancing, this is the place to go. (If you like 80's music and bad DJ's, L'Etage is for you but I stopped dancing to 80's music in the 80's.) People dress VERY up for this place and it's always hot after 10pm in this place because of the sheer volume of people so even if you're a guy, dress like it's Summer. You'll see Vegas-type dresses on women...and sometimes even less. Usually more women than guys--typical for a dance club. Although I've met plenty of guys there when I wasn't interested in meeting any so it's not like you should immediately cross this place off the list if you're an eligible female. The drinks are expensive. I tip well. I still get crappy service. I'm fairly convinced women usually tip poorly in here so services just assume if you don't have junk between your knees you too won't tip well. Cover to get in is insane. The vault is not worth it...unless it's closing time because you can hang out later than 2am or you smoke because you can smoke back there.

by Andre Arehano on This place is one of the best music venues in the city. It's a great viewing space and they have tons of great shows on a regular basis. There are plenty of spots throughout the place to get drinks. I'd say the only negatives here are that drinks can be pretty steep and the VIP area really isn't very great. Also, the crowd at Mezzanine is consistently pretty awesome and the management seems to coordinate entry pretty well so it's not to much of a hassle even for really big shows. Anyway, the point is... I LOVE THIS PLACE! Go for sure, maybe just have a cheap drink or two before going to protect your pocket... although that can always back fire if you get too wasted and start buying everyone drinks... Find a show you like and go to Mezzanine!
