For some reason, everyone wants to have their birthday dinners at Gloria's. I can partly see why, because the location in the Domain (next to Macy's) and the outside patio is very nice, particularly at night. I suppose this is a "nicer" restaurant? They claim to have a strict dresscode, but I have never seen it enforced. Now onto the review - the service here is HORRIBLE. The food is below average. VEGANS BEWARE. On a prior trip, they made me special vegan enchiladas which were pretty decent. This time, however, I was not so lucky. I got some sort of vegetable enchiladas which I had to send back one time because I suspected there was cheese on there. The waiter tried to argue with me saying that it was zucchini....um...yeah... I have severe allergies to dairy and I am constantly angry that restaurant staff, especially at nicer restaurant, do not take these allergies seriously. Other people at my table had their order messed up and the checks were also a disaster. My waiter billed me for BEEF QUESADILLAS. Please tell me how vegetable enchiladas cost the same as beef quesadillas. He said he'd fix the check and came back with a bill for $1 less. (Obviously, I should have gone to Mr. Natural, where I could have gotten an entire plate of delicious Mexican food + cake for the same price!) My meal should have be comped, but obviously the manager didn't realize how poor the service was. I would have given this place one star, but I know that being vegan I wasn't able to sample the vast majority of the menu.

I liked that Mayes didn't used to charge a cover, but now they charge $5.  Not a lot of money, but I guess I got used to the free entrance. I've only come here on a weekend night and only after 11pm.  It's always pretty packed and the crowd seems to be in their mid-20's.  The music is across the board with a lot of top 40s and some 80's and 90's classics. It's a smaller bar.  There's not much room to dance which makes it seem much hotter.  It would be nice to have some A/C.

GET IT GIRL! Last time I was here, I was too drunk too function after an episode of Brunch at Lime. The new Cafe is DEFINITELY a COMPLETE overhaul from it's uglier and less classier days, I will give it that. My only thing about the new overhaul is that there is almost NO SEATING, besides the smoking area. I mean, I am a smoker, so I'm partially okay with sitting out there and hanging out. But what if Eye Spy a hot guy and he's not cool with the cancer sticks? No bueno. Ah well. All in all, good job on the re-do.
