Ever walked in a bathroom to catch your grandma stepping out of the shower? Never ask a fiery Nicaraguan to tip a stripper, lest ye be subjected to a full-nude lap dance that ends with blown kisses and a "God bless you." All kinds of the rightest wrong.

I wasn't going to admit that I even went, but you have to know that this is not a bargain, and it's not worth it. You could find a more interesting 'show' with options for actually edible food. Take your family and your budget somewhere else, or you'll be sorry. Maybe your fantasy had something to do with ripping up rustic bread and gnawing on a big chunk of steak or leg of turkey - barehanded and half drunk from guzzling pints of mead and hoegaarden while a somewhat convincing and funny show goes on below. Guess what - it's just not going to be that cool. None of it is. The differential between food quality and cost was insultingly disparate to the point of disgust. I mean it - this food is absolutely disgusting. Canned soup? It reminded me of a public school lunch. The experience is what I imagine you would get if you overcommercialized the Rennaisance Festival and cross-bred it with dinner at your high school cafeteria. There's nothing special about the show. I'm sure you could find better entertainment watching live action role players in the park.

There's something wonderful about a divey bar. Not overly gentrified, very comfortable, not too bright and glitzy. And Waziema has something unique and special - Ethiopian food. I was greeted very warmly by the hostess and received friendly and real service. It wasn't very busy but it was early during the week. The food may not be the best Ethiopian cuisine in SF, but that's OK. It is inexpensive, served hot and quickly, in a great place, and you'll have a lot of drinks to choose from! OH and it's all you can eat! Plus you'll avoid the hip crowd if you're in the mood for a little more of a comfy environment. Try the vegetarian combo. The mushroom and garlic dish is particularly delicious. The Injera is perfect. I'll be back for sure as I can easily walk to this Nopa/Western Addition/Middle Haight area.
