by Laila S. on Sambuca Jazz Cafe is an awesome place. Upscale, Great cocktails, Beautiful Ambience and Seating for shows. Food was great and extremely reasonable.I went Halloween nite expecting the place to be empty. But, to my suprise many people enjoy the cafe and come for the food and the great cocktails. The waitresses were all dressed up for Halloween & were extremely friendly. Its a nice size so you will never feel cramped or uncomfortable. Its extremely classy and gives a beautiful vibe. I had no idea that an artist would be perfornimg but she was great as well. No complaints about this place, I will defintely be back.
by Margaret C. on Overall, I had a great time at Middlesex. There were a few things that were not perfect. The wait is a bit lengthy. Fortunately it's been nice out lately and I wasn't cold. Once inside there is pretty much no where to sit on a saturday night, so wear comfortable shoes. And be ready to bounce around 1 a.m. because that's when the creepers start to appear. This place does have several redeeming qualities though. For one, the reason there is no seating is because the place is basically just a big dance floor. Which is something I can get behind. And for most of the night the crowd was mainly people there to bust a seriously ridiculous move. Something else I can seriously get behind. The DJ was great and the music was spot on all night. In fact my friend and I ended up staying much later than we intended because they kept putting on more music we liked. We were actually standing outside discussing the merits of going home vs tracking down some late night chow when a song came on inside and we didn't even hesitate, we just went right back in. The bartenders are friendly and prompt. The bar takes a little finagling to get to but it's nothing more than you'd expect at a crowded bar. The bar itself is great because it's nice and low. I am quite the petite person and even with heels sometimes I find I have to jump up and down and wave to get the bartender's attention. Not so at Middlesex. That bar is right at waist height for me. Fabulous. Drink prices are fair as well.
