Being from New Jersey I've been to my fair share of diners. Overall the Majestic ranks as ok. First of all, I don't want my diner waitress to be some young hipster girl. I want my waitress to be older, heavy, raspy voice, preferably Greek/eastern European and preferably with a mole on her face. I'd like her to refer to me as "honey" a lot too. Not to say my waitress wasn't good. She was nice, attentive, my coffee was always full and she was friendly. I just have memories of a different diner waitress. The food was pretty standard diner food. Small menu though, kind of standard stuff. I ordered the club sandwich with fries. The sandwich was very good, no complaints. The fries were so so at best. The prices, a little ridiculous. Everyone on the menu was 2 or 3 bucks more than it should be. My wife noted if she had to pay extra to add hash browns with her eggs (it only came with toast) We got in an out pretty quick, which I liked. Food was solid, service was good. If scoutmob does another coupon I'll be back sooner than later. If not it'll probably be a while.

Sometimes your friends start drinking at 2pm. Sometimes you forget to eat before meeting them. Sometimes you have shots waiting for you upon arrival (to "catch up" with everyone). Sometimes your friend throws his socks into the Hudson. Sometimes you don't remember leaving or getting home. Sometimes you wake up with a broken shoe and a receipt from The Frying Pan for a ridiculous amount of money. For almost all of these things, I don't blame The Frying Pan. The Frying Pan didn't make me drink. It just made it easier to do. Oh, and the view is pretty.

Dragged over by a buddy who frequents the place on a Friday night. A little chit chat with the door guy cut our cover charge in half at around 10:30. Walking up the flight of stairs with the music getting louder as you climb preps those vocal chords to shout for the rest of the night. A bit surprised at the largely 20-something crowd. There were the fratboys and the girls who love them, the Armenians, a handful of metrosexual Asians, a couple classy Latinas, and the group which couldn't be identified. A bit more diverse than the race-exclusive places I've visited. Color me impressed. Girl to guy ratio was quite opposite of what I've heard about Saturdays. Place felt somewhat like a house party. There's no sense of being in a big place- enclosures, random things like a foosball table, shuffle board, ping pong and wallpaper of LCD TVs everywhere you turn. Not for the claustrophobic. Bumping into people and occasionally shouting 'scuse me' into ears becomes routine very quick as the night progresses. Didn't hang til the end, but the place was in better shape than when I got there.
