by Laura M. on On a sunny Friday at 5 PM, this place is a SCENE, completely packed with people from all walks of life: i-bankers, hipsters, bridge and tunnel folk, European tourists, etc. However, if you come early enough on a nice day (my coworkers and I love to take advantage of our half day Fridays at the 'Pan), you will be able to grab a table and enjoy the sun over buckets of Corona and house-made sangria. CONS: crowded at peak hours, pricey ($35 for a bucket of Corona--for shame!), bad for people (like me) who are prone to sea sickness (not a joke!), gross below-deck bathrooms. PROS: if you get there early enough, it won't be crowded; if you're a cheapskate, and sly, you can easily sneak in your own Corona to drink after buying that first bucket (sorry, management); stare at a point in the distance--it helps with that sea sickness (surprisingly enough, so does drinking!)
by Katy A. on I got stuck on the dance floor once and almost sweated my little butt off cause I wasn't able to get a refreshing beverage...I can't say I mind tho...the revolving door of local DJs are all FANTASTIC and when I go there for disco events the Pop-Lockin' Dudes are just the MOST fun to watch (how can I BE them?!) This place is VERY tiny...but the drinks aren't expensive and I've never had a bad time there. There's seating for those who want to chill and a large enough dance floor for the serious rump shakers.
by Kimbra Dieudonne on um. HOW COOL is this venue? i went to my first show here just a couple of months ago (for Sara Bareilles, Raining Jane, and John McLaughlin). They're kick-ass, check em out. I was blown away by this venue though. The old-school stylings and moldings, the at-least-theyre-strong-so-ill-pay-8-bucks-already drinks, and the great acoustics. pretty much i want to live here. pretty much.
