by James B. on Drai's Hollywood is located on the 12th floor. It's a really nice place that resembles the Standard Hotel rooftop bar with the XS club feel. If you're looking for a club where you can dance, Drai's isn't really the place to go. The dance floor if you can even call it a dance floor is really small and it serves as a path to go outside to the pool area, so you have people constantly walking through the dance floor. This is a place where you have to get a table. They didn't reallly let anyone in until 11. I guess they were lagging in setting the place up for the night. The bartenders were pretty slow. Bartenders are supposed to be able to take multiple drink orders, make them, and charge it to the appropriate checks, but the bartenders here weren't efficient so it took a long time to order. In all, Drai's is a lounge and I wouldn't consider it a nightclub. There are much better places to go for clubbin
by Kelsey F. on The Frying Pan is an accident waiting to happen. There seems to be little to no regulation on who goes in and out, how many go in and out, how old they are, etc. If a drunken/dehydrated fight ever broke out there it would be like uncontrollable oil splatter on a too-hot pan. This is definitely not a place you should stay at after the sun has gone down. There is practically no lighting- not even Christmas lights or anything. It's dark enough that it is difficult to see where you're going, which is in addition to unsteady footing from the rocking of the boat, which is also in addition to alcohol consumption. If someone fell overboard, I'm sure no one would notice or even be able to see. Lastly, I couldn't believe that there was no music. Not even a simple ipod hook-up by one of the bar tenders. That was quite disappointing. Maybe music makes people feel more sick from the rocking motion going on, I don't know. Lastly lastly, I heard from friends that Frying Pan ran out of drinks fairly early on in the night, which isn't good for anyone. Other than those upsets, I'd say this is a unique place to get some drinks and burgers in Manhattan if you want a view of the Hudson and to be outdoors. I suggest keeping it to a daytime event.
by Emilie Fedorka on Fun, Fun Fun. Love Marquee. I arrived with a promotor friend and an international DJ and got the full VIP treatment. Space is beautiful and the drinks are crazy strong but mixed so well they don't taste like cough medicine. Music was surprisingly good. So many see and be seen clubs in NYC play tired old tunes, it was nice to be surprised for a change. Go midweek even if you have to be in early at work, and kick it crazy to the great beats.
