Saw Jay Mohr at this Cathedral of comedy and he went a bonus 45 mins over his scheduled set. Second good experience here. Last summer I saw Aziz Ansari while they were filming his Rodney character for Funny People. Check their website for listings.

This is a review of Medjool's night scene NOT restaurant. Due to my work schedule, I've simmered down a bit and rarely go out on Fridays. Last week, I felt the itch to just dance off my worries and have a good old time. I usually like frolicking in the Mission and my friend suggested we check Medjool for a fun wreckless time full of drinking and dancing. No dice: - There is something about arrogant doormen that just piss me off. I mean, why do some guys feel it necessary to be complete hard asses? Yes, you are the man at the door and yes, we all know that you have the upper hand in who gets in and who doesn't & who pays but do you have to be aggro about it? It's called respect for others quit the elitest b.s. and learn how to smile. - Music: No go. A really good jam would start playing and get the mood going then a quick turnaround to something really bad. - **Drinks: In a previous review I stated that I thought Medjool overcharged me but I was completely wrong. There were a couple of pending charges but in the end it was for the correct amount. In any case, I will definitely only pay with cash for drinks. A-Ok's: - The layout is pretty fly. On a warmer night, I'm sure the rooftop is a great place to party. - I've only heard through the grape vine but supposedly their food is pretty decent. I may be willing to go check out their place for dinner. - Bathrooms are clean and there aren't any horrible lines. BIG PLUS! Medjool isn't tops on my list. I may frolick elsewhere.

Lovely place, great atmosphere, and neat crowd. I'm a late 20s-er, hung out with some 30-somethings, met older gay men, older straight women, large crowds, small intimate groups, and a single guy with a broken heart. I felt totally at home here. Drinks are yummy and terribly potent!!! I'm normally a cheap drunk anyway, but geez, 1.5 drinks is my max here! The Pineapple Martini, the Tangerini, and some sort of raspberry ones with real berries at the bottom--they're like juice! Bartenders were generally nice, and the music is great. I will definitley make this my new default, late night "let's close out the bar" place.
