Reservations were made online and when we arrived we were told that it would be a few minutes. We waited at the bar for 10 minutes... because the place was so packed with eager diners? Absolutely not... it was dead as a morgue. Finally seated, we ordered the chilled shrimp, scallops, and the crab cake. The shrimp was good, nothing toe curling but not a bad choice for an app. The crab cake was actually the best that I've had in Philadelphia so far... so much delicious crab meat. The scallops were a let down because of the texture and lack of flavor. Overall, not a bad experience but I think it suffered from that "okay food, not worth your money, overpriced menu" syndrome.

Martuni's is the closest you can get to a New York musical theatre piano bar in SF. I love being able to sit around the piano, and the drinks are great. The singing area, however, is cramped (as well as the pianist)...I wish there was a real stage...even a very small one....the mic/sound system isn't great either. otherwise...yay Martuni's! It's a fun night.

YIKES! I almost feel bad for giving this place 3 stars cause so many people hate it... but I have to admit, my experience was good. The design of the place is actually pretty cool, I do agree the location for a place like this is a bit odd. It's right next to In'n'Out burger... and this place is supposed to be classy classy. However, honestly, it's a nice place, the time I went. I went on May 1. So the night was simple, we had just had dinner at Lowenbrou Keller, and they had no dessert, so we decided to get dessert here since it's close to the house. I went on a Tuesday night, and it was quiet and not busy. My service was great, and the manager came by and said hello and was nice. We had some martinis, not that great, but that's the bartenders fault, not the restaurant's... a bad martini by the way, is one that has ice chips in it. Any bartender knows that ice doesn't belong in the martini glass. But I looked past that, she was most likely an amateur. We also had a great dessert, and I can't remember what it was called. The evening there was short, maybe an hour, but it served the exact purpose we wanted, and it was nice in there... it was also a Tuesday night.
