by Jesse F. on We had reservations but still had to wait for at least 30 minutes. The food and the fast service made up for any waiting we experienced. The restaurant is pricey but that should be expected.
by Sandy B. on I have visited this bar a few times. It is one that reminds you of a Cheers atmosphere. Everyone seems to know eachother and it is very friendly! A great place to go if you are in need of some friendly conversation and a cheap beer.
by Jerome W. on Are you tired of cheesy bars and guys with bad pick-up lines? Does the thought of pounding techno music blasting away while you're trying to have a conversation just annoy you? I SAID, DOES IT ANNOY YOU? Well, I definitely think this place is worth a try. I mean...food, wine, friends...what more could you ask for? I came here at a recommendation of a friend and it did not disappoint. Located in the heart of Castro, it's unassuming from the outside and when you walk in, it's a very comfortable and casual atmosphere. They have a wide range of wines to choose from, but I was craving something sweet, so I opted for the Port. My friends got the Muscat and it was pure goodness. Hungry? No problem. They have a menu of different foods to match your craving including some yummy desserts. We had the chocolate cake and it was fantastic. Service is casual, but friendly. I wouldn't recommend this place for a full meal, but definitely a great hang out spot!
by Loren Washmuth on It was an unofficial rateclubs event last night and we didn't even know it. Adrienne D. dragged me here last night and I bumped into Kevin K and his non rateclubsing pals. Later that night we spotted Lovejoy dancing. We were on a guest list but the cute yet rude door man told us to wait in line. Ten minutes later we let our selves in and walked the white carpet. No one wanted to take our photos :( The venue looks like someone converted a barn into a club. Tall wooden ceilings basically. The sound system here is booming and loud but we didn't care for the lame mash ups the DJ was serving. The drinks were really stiffed and we were seriously hammered. I'll probably get my ass kicked for saying this but we made a point to get out on the dance floor and brought back some old dance moves. We danced the cabbage patch, throwing cards, the law mower, the sprinkler, the shopper, thriller and the robot. The second we busted out those dance moves no one wanted to dance or be near us. It was like Mose's parting the sea. I'd go back to Sugar for sure. I just hope they have better music next time I go
