Ummm.. didn't mind it. Didn't try the food. Turns out two of my friends were celebrating there on the same night: One had a birthday in the upstairs section, which is mostly latin music with an occasional top 40 mixed in; I guess the crowd was more cheerful 30s. Another one of my girls was in the downstairs area, it's her & her people's usual weekend spot so she was simply getting it in. I felt intensely awkward upstairs so moseyed back on down. Crowded, pulsing, dark. Hip hop, top 40s. Drinks in ribbed, small plastic cups. I believe a Jameson cost me $11. Imagine my chagrin when mine got knocked out my hands twice. I had the wierd experience of having a guy "claim me" after one dance, and not really "letting me" dance with other people the entire night. Meh. I don't know if it's because of him that I felt the crowd was young, hungry, and looking to grind more than have a good time. Or grinding equaled having a good time. I don't grind with just anyone, y'heard? I danced my hair flat, got gully, was there until the lights came on. Yeah, NO ONE is pretty when those lights come on. May probably go back, but only if I was like, aggressively determined to dance, and my 1st option charged a cover or was too crowded. Luckily, I rarely have those moments.

Pros: Decent (not spectacular) food, decent wines. Cons: Service was pretty slow and the band was way. too. loud. The ironic thing about it was that before they started playing, the sax player stepped up to the mic and said "Please, enjoy your dinner... we're simply here to enhance the ambience..." I've been to quieter shows at the Fillmore. This fact alone knocked this review down by a star. Attn: booking agent. Go see the bands at other venues before you book them for a restaurant. You shouldn't have to shout at the person sitting next to you, let alone across from you.
