I decided to find a popular tapas place in SF and plenty of people mentioned Medjool in the Mission. It was a mediocre experience for me. I have to admit it was my fault since I asked too many people about the place before I made a visit. I asked friends, coworkers, saw the Check Please Bay Area review and the consensus was this place is wonderful. Eh....it was ok. We ordered eight dishes amongst four hungry people. Don't get me wrong, everything was good but it wasn't outstanding. I was expecting spectacular Mediterranean food and got decent food instead. We ordered the sampler, beet salad, fried calamari, Moroccan chicken, short ribs, sea bass, halibut, and the crispy sweet potatoes. I thought everything was decent, but I've definitely experienced better. There was only one server and unfortunately she was too overwhelmed by the number of guests who arrived at the same time. She was a very sweet girl but was just too busy to even noticed we never got our crispy potatoes dish. Oh well. I was so disappointed, I didn't even order dessert and decided to go home to my pint of ice cream instead. At least I know that would be a winner. Would I go back? No. Maybe I just ordered the wrong food or came on the wrong night. I could give it another try, but with a bigger group next time just to get every dish on the menu. Maybe I'll find something I like that way.

I would give this place 5 stars but the fact that I had myself a grand of a time with little recollection makes unfortunately impossible. What I remember is that my VIP section and bottle service was def. up to par and there seems to always be some type of celebrity inside. The outdoor deck [from the last time I went] was decent. Seems as though most club-goers prefer the indoor crowds for this place def. had that with every step I took. Had a phenomenal night & would recommend this for those visiting New York!

As far as lounges go, I'd have to say that the Third Floor Cafe has a great blend of East Coast character and Korean culture. How is it East Coast? Although New York's Koreatown may not be as large or as developed as Los Angeles', this lounge could stand up with some of the mega-bars in LA or even Seoul. It's a little small, but appointed tastefully. The staff is responsive, and you don't have to be Korean to enjoy the place (i.e. they speak English). This isn't a nightclub, but there was a DJ spinning, and it's a great place to hang out with friends over a few drinks. How is it Korean? First of all, this is on 5th/32nd, so it's right in Manhattan's K-town. But you don't have to walk very far to grab some Korean food, since the kitchen is open late. Also, the crowd (while mixed) definitely has a Korean flavor. Much of the menu was very reasonably priced, although in true Korean fashion, the bottle service borders on insanity. Still, you don't have to get a bottle to get a table, so you can have a cheap night out. I'd definitely return here for a leisurely evening with some friends, although anything more than 4-6 might get a little tough because of the limited space.
