Interesting story line and very amazing dancing. To be perfectly honest, it was often hard to understand what was being said, which I tend to like. This is probably a personal problem however. The use of lights and sounds was really innovative. I'd recommend reading a bit up on Fela before you see the show - not required, but it'll make the story more meaningful. I'd also recommend not sitting too far back on the first level. The top part of the set will be obstructed at certain points in the show.

Citizens, I must tell you that I am up for a fun time all the time so it was with a bounce in my step that me and my friends left a mediocre night in The Highlands and made the pilgrimage to The Clermont Lounge. I recall that it was my idea to go, and I thought it was going to be funny, but it was just gross. The whole place skeeved me out, and I kept my hands in my pockets. I had to give this old lady a dollar so she'd STOP showing me her junk. I know that's how this place is supposed to be, but I was unprepared for just how bad it would get. I was prepared to chuckle, I nearly puked. Spare yourselves and just go to the world of Coke or the Varsity if you want to visit an Atlanta institution.

MJQ was the first bar I ever went to as an underaged college student (I can't speak for their ID'ing now - this was almost ten years ago!). I give it five stars partially out of nostalgia for all the great times I had there. I don't live in Atlanta anymore, but I hear that MJQ has expanded their space. MJQ is a fun and literally underground spot - it apparently resides in a former parking garage. The music is always great, with good DJs, and it's a popular place to go out dancing. One thing to note about this place is the constant fluctuation of the cover price - generally, if the door people know you, you'll get in for free. If they don't know you or you look or act like a jackass, they'll charge you - the more of a jackass, the higher the cover. That's just in my experience. Check MJQ out, if you can find it.
