I've grabbed lunch here a couple of times, the first time being with the illustrious Ron M (dude, we need to get together for lunch again?). Their grilled panini sammies are hearty and super flavorful. But I do concede that I adore their pizzas. Great crust and toppings. I even was allowed to add pepperoni to their margherita pizza. Yay me! Heck, yay my tummy! Not to mention half hour of free pool when you get food, which is a great use of the time you have to wait for your food. And the guy who works there is AWESOME! Truly down-to-earth and easy to chat with.
by Michelle M. on Can this place's character absorb one more "intimate" description? Really, it's beginning to feel adjectivally claustrophobic on these pages. I like walking into the Great American's generous, yet intimate, swath of space. The vertical, horizontal and diagonal motion possibilities are numerous, and they are appreciated by me -- a frequent floor dweller who occasionally aspires to balcony heights. A standing member of the audience who occasionally retires to a chair when the old back starts aching. It's all possible here. The shows I've seen at GAMH rate among my most memorable (from The Verlaines in the early 90s to Circle in 2005 to Slint and Mission of Burma's reunion tour dates). The interior is sensual and ornate, the hue is soft and red, the sound is formidable and the floor is oak. This Hall has long been, and remains, my favorite venue for experiencing live music.
