I'm torn between "A-OK" and "Yay! I'm a Fan". Let me also say, I know it's ridiculous that it's taken me this long to eat here and I grew up in Austin. FOOD /DRINK: (Because isn't this really what it's all about?) I had the 3 meat plate with Burnt Edge Brisket, Moist Brisket, and Pork Ribs. The brisket and ribs really were only A-OK. I grew up here in Austin and have eaten a few briskets to say the least. The ribs, same thing. They were both really tough. I usually do not to but BBQ Sauce on my food, especially after it's cooked, but I have to say- it was very good and unique. The cole slaw was very light and fresh and had a sesame flavor (perfect if you ask me). The potatoes were also yummy (apparently they use the BBQ sauce on them). Beans were good- just pintos. The pickles were a lovely treat! The place is BYOB! Cash only. SERVICE: Not really impressed. We were here w/ 12 at 12:30 and nearly the only people there. We were quickly told that there was a 1 1/2 hour time limit on our table. I understand this, but as I looked around and the restaurant was EMPTY, I nearly laughed. Of course, it did start filling up shortly after. Luckily we were about done when our "timer" went off. Also, if you have 20+ people, they make you get the Family Style (FYI). I understand their "rules" and such because they get so busy, but they did not communicate these kindly or effectively. ATMOSPHERE: Perfect for a BBQ joint. Great outside seating area, although we were told that we would have to order to-go if we wanted to sit outside because it was off season. Even though it was 70+ degrees outside in December. PERKS!: Walk right outside and you will run into the Salt Lick Cellars. They did not have any wine of their own but offered a variety of Texas wines to try by the tasting, glass, or bottle. The service here was a little weak too, but we had fun nonetheless. BOTTOMLINE: I did not think the BBQ was all it has been hyped up to be, but definitely something that everyone should do once in Austin. I will have to go back and try it again one day.

Park has always been my favorite go-to place for good music and fun people. They have a nice lounge/bar area when you walk in with large tables in the indoor garden for groups. Also smaller tables for a more intimate setting. Drinks are reasonably priced in the $10 range. The upstairs area opens at midnight on the weekends -- there's a dance floor, outdoor patio/dance floor, couches and tables, and a bar. The crowd is pretty diverse so you don't feel like you're going to an ethnic club. The DJs always play good music, something I can always dance and move my body to. Around 3am they switch to 80's music to wind the crowd down. Coat check and restrooms are located on the lower level. No admission necessary to enter and you're bound to have fun. ;)

Try it...a cool place with something very special. Of course, the sofas are great and it's a great workout to dance on those to the electro beats with alcohol in your blood and still keep your balance --- a challenge and I loved it :-) The main room is beautiful and I really enjoyed seeing the DJ so close to you. It makes such a difference to look at the DJ and se e how he/she is in the zone of rocking the dance floor; I personally get turned on by that :-) I was there on the night when Mike Giannini played and I'm a huge fan of his music and he totally rocked it. They serve good drinks there and the total atmosphere was friendly. I would say this place is one of the best in SF and one of my favorites... The only downside is their staff. They are not happy people and sometimes that can ruin your evening, but I learned how to ignore that and I usually come for the music! I'm coming back for more...
