WARNING: if you are a large group of people at a table, DO NOT GIVE THE WAITRESS CASH. Use your credit card. We went there just yesterday to celebrate a friend's birthday and while the music and the energy of the place is cool, the service is horrible. It took them over an hour to give us our food. Fine. Drink service was slow. Fine. However, when they gave us the bill and we gave them cash, the waitress had the temerity to come back to us and tell us we were a $100 short. Are you kidding me?! We counted that money 3 times to make sure because it was a big bill. And isn't it so suspicious that we are short $100, which is a very specific number. And when we spoke to the manager, he was a rude bastard and basically told us we were stiffing his staff. Then they had the balls to tell us they hope we never come back. Go at your own risk. I know we will never be going there again. Plus the drinks are pretty expensive and the food was sub-par. I had the shell steak and everything, including the rice and beans, needed salt. It was pretty bland.

meh. I don't have very strong opinions of this place either way. + umm, nothing really - again, nothing really. That about sums this place up, nothing is very noteworthy, in either direction. the decor is kitschy, but not in a cool way - tao is far too cavernous to be kitschy-cool, instead it verges more on tacky-kitsch. service was decent. the only reason I might ever go back is to try the mango-tamarind martini. that definitely caught my eye. other than that, no thanks. if i want buddha bar in paris, i'd rather get on a plane!

I hosted my birthday party at Element last Thursday, May 17th which was the party Bootie, and it was SO much fun! The staff there were really helpful, special props to Stephen and Luis. I gave them a guest list 24 hours prior to the event. Stephen did ask me that day if he had told me to have my guests get there by 11 which he hadn't so then he said don't worry about it. All my guests were given free admission, and we got 2 free bottles of champagne! which I def. had to kinda plead for to get, but it was worth it in the end. The party Bootie which orginated in SF was amazing. It was a "bootleg mashup" of songs splicing together Kanye West's Gold Digga with Beethoven's 5th Symphony. My guests definitely got crunk! The drinks are definitely pricey, $9 for a jager bomb (and a $30 minimum if you pay by debit/credit card), but it was my birthday so I didn't pay for ANY drinks!! it was a pre-dom straight crowd which they had "warned" me about, and a heterosexual guy from Ireland whose girlfriend was totally wasted did ask me quite persistently for coke, but I had my wonderful friends conversatin in our little knook and jammin it out on the dance floor so it was all good!
