STK is a great little trendy joint in the meatpacking district. It's great for social settings if going for drinks or dinner. It's a little pricey but the food is really fantastic. I've been there a few times so I definitely recommend STK. Also, the music is great!

So I went here on October 30th for my birthday / Halloween. I was visiting from Chicago with a bunch of my friends. I spent about 2 weeks trying to find a good venue to go to, and finally settled on Gold Room (Choices were Tongue & Groove & Opera). We reserved a table downstairs and got 2 bottles of Goose. Francisco, the VIP Managers there, told me he would comp a bottle of champagne as well. We get to the door around 11:20PM, and the line was pretty empty. We get seated right away, and told the server to bring us two bottles of Goose. The decor inside was pretty nice. Although it was small, it's not really the size of the venue that I care about..it's the vibe and energy! I knew I was supposed to get comped a bottle of champagne, but they never brought it out. I didn't want to make a big deal about it (I could care less about a cheap bottle of house champagne), but it's the organization and principle that mattered. The Music SUCKED. The DJ was horrible, switching from Hip Hop, to Top 40, to a little bit of House music. The transition was god awful. I'm a big audiophile, I've partied in Miami, LA, New York, and everywhere in Europe. I know the difference between a good DJ, and a horrible DJ. This DJ was definitely sub-par. The crowd was filled with ugly dudes and girls. The energy was lacking, and it was pretty the worst out of town experience I've ever had. The waitresses are ugly, and the dancers have no rhythm. Perfect combination for a fail club. I didn't have much expectations of Atlanta clubs (maybe it's because I'm spoiled by NY, LA, Chicago, Miami, and Europe), but Gold Room wasn't a "decent" club. I tried to make the most of the night, so I chugged 4 drinks and took 2 shots all within an hour. Of course, this didn't do the trick.... Overall, Gold Room is a club where they try to have a classy atmosphere, but fail miserably. Will never go here again. The only reason this place gets 2 stars is because valet is pretty cheap, only $5.

This is a great place. It's located in a dingy strip mall next to Alamo Drafthouse, behind the CVS - but the vibe there doesn't match the location - which makes it that much more golden. Great prices. The stuff you get here is WAY cheap - comparatively speaking. What would normally be an $8 sandwich elsewhere is $5 or $6 here. And they don't scrimp on portions or quality. The food is amazingly yummy. The coffee is really cheap, too (and very good). AND they have some rockin' vegetarian options. Oh, and the day-old pastries for super cheap are a plus. The owner runs around serving customers with an infant strapped to his chest. That's new and different. I like it. The employees are all really laid back and friendly. They definitely make you feel welcome and they never rush you, even during the high traffic times. They remember your face and say hi like you're old friends. Limited resources: only one cashier, so there's a line. Plus it gets damn busy (especially around lunch). I call ahead so my food's ready when I get there. CASH ONLY. There's an ATM at the Alamo, though. Or you can get cash-back at the CVS in front of it (which is cheaper than the arm and leg charged by the Alamo) They also take checks.
