Gorgeous detailing on the walls and ceilings. It really makes you feel like you're partying in a Mayan palace. Main room was a mix of techno/pop/ Latin. Bottom floor was hip hop. Top floor was salsa. Parking was pretty easy on the street (and free)! Of course we got there early so we had no problem. Oh and one of the go-go dancers was bootylicious! I never saw a dancer w/ such a big ass (in a good way).

On Folsom, near the leather factory outlets, lie this little gem on a Thursday night. Different cats from around this joyous city gather for "1984"--80s night, every Thursday--at the Cat Club. meow. This is the 2nd Thursday I've been here this month. I see some familiar faces and hairdos--that guy with an inverted vase-shaped hair.... that filipino guy in the vest doing his one-singular dance move wherever he went--on the floor, on the stage, in the cage--same dance move. Long bar in the front room (where they play a mix of 80s pop, rock, and hip hop), and a smaller bar in the front of the back room (where they play emo/new wave stuff). There is this mini alley inside the front room, which is open to the outside, leading to a buddha grotto in the back.... where you see European and Latin American guys wearing super tight shirts trying to use cray cray pick-up lines on the females.... and where you also see chain-smoking, uber fashionable French chicks, looking like they're bitching about tapestries or pastries, or something French like that.... inside the dance areas, the diversity is amazing...there's this dude wearing a shirt that looks like a 1 Diamond playing card...another dude in a leather vest, swinging around a wet towel while he tries to incorrectly lipsynch the songs.... girls that look like dudes... dudes that look like chicks... butterface galore!---this place is a complete scene! I see some miggidy, miggidy, miggidy, miggidy mackin' going on! ..k wrong decade an eye-opening night. I finally figured out the correct lyrics to that one AC/DC song.... all my life, i thought the lyrics were super morbid: "yeah you, we should all die now!" but it's really "and you! shook me all night long!" which makes it sexy. from morbid to sexy... a big "a-ha!" this evening. and you... whoever you are, I hope you like my secret dances of seduction--inspired by antennae feelers and puzzle boxes.

EndUp is a South of Market institution. A dance club that has been in existence forever. The layout, dancefloor and courtyard has remained the same after all these years. Last night was ReggaeGold on a four the girls evening out. I stepped into EndUp after, oh so many years. The vibe, the crowd, the music and my girls were phenomenal. The $20 cover and cash only bar was a nuisance. Nevertheless ... It was a perfect venue to spend time with girlfriends in the dance floor for hours of grinding and swinging and moving to reggae tunes and the beat of Jamaican drums. A never-ending turnover of hot dance partners to grind and sway with, shots of lemon drops, a twirling room, a herd of people all of whom seek Dionysian pleasures from the night. It was an evening of dirty dancing. It was absolutely amazing.
