I had a 7:45 pm reservation and things were going absolutely perfectly - finally, a chic place in the meatpacking district with a lot of table room, where tables aren't on top of each other, where the whole atmosphere seems worth the $400+ I'm going to spend on me and 3 other people... when BOOM at 9:15 pm the music which was so awesome and unobtrusive got bumped up to the point where I know tomorrow I'm not going to have any voice from the way I had to scream across the table. But all of the special sushi rolls were unbelievably melt-in-your mouth amazing and they happened to forget to bring our bar tab over from the bar where we sat earlier... but still, why do all of these fancy restaurants have to turn into annoying clubs halfway through your meal? I mean I know we're there for 2.5 hours but don't I deserve to sit and enjoy my meal if I'm paying that much? I would do an event here, though. Totally cool, food was great. I'm just kinda disappointed about the music, since the night started out so well. If you want to avoid it, I say make your reservation at 7 and try to get out of there by 9.

By accident, a crew of lovely ladies and I were passing by Door 44 on a Saturday night. We didn't feel like paying cover charges (it was $10) but were graciously invited in by a wonderful and friendly staff. The place is very sexy...red lighting, black and red decor, go-go dancers, and a sexy VIP lounge area. The crowd is pretty good-looking too. Being a California native, I felt like I was in certain parts of L.A. or Orange County...thanks to the cute skater-looking boys and tatted up glam girls (probably just leaving their auditions for Rock of Love). I did almost get into my first fight in the ladies room with some girls that thought they owned the place...but since most people are all bark and no bite, I managed to have a great time and meet some very cool people. My advice to the girls: wear black, show cleavage, pile on the eyeliner and you'll be good to go. It's a fun place to live up the Hollywood glam :)

Didn't this place open up a while ago? The bottom floor was closed off....full of chairs and boxes, as if they were remodeling it. It was a Saturday night...what exactly is up with this place? It didn't have much going on besides being an attractive venue. Didn't matter anyway. There was hardly anyone there. If I hadn't been there with 20 other people for a bday party it would've been practically empty...on a Saturday night!!!! The DJ was lame. He kept mixing songs that just didn't flow well into each other. Still, being drunk on booze helped me not care so fun was had regardless. Downstairs the waiter in the tiny lounge area didn't know the drink menu...um, don't know if he's new but you must train your staff to be familiar with the menu. It's ridiculous when you have to point out to them on the menu what exactly you are ordering from them because they have no idea what you are talking about.
