We came here a couple of times, one for my friend's birthday and one we just decided we wanted to dance. We had a good time dancing. There is a mixed crowd that we like, the vibes was happy and jolly. Music was loud and clubbers do make an effort to dressed up. The basement has 2 rooms and the ground level has a very impressive entrance and the bar next to it serves to be a nice quieter place if you want to have an intimate conversation without loud music blasting in your ears. Overall a good experience but you get to see the same faces over time haha!! One thing: they made a lousy Amaretto sour, I thought I were drinking lemon juice without sugar...

Average Hollywood club that has absolutely no business charging $20 for cover and $30 for valet parking at the lot next door. The drinks are kind of expensive: $12 for a vodka tonic and lemon drop shot (without even specifying top shelf liquor!), $13 for a Bellini, $7 for a corona. I was strongly tempted to hop across the street to Ritual where a mass of Asians were lined up for another Memorial Day event. Asian parties always have good music. The DJ, crowd and cover charge depend heavily on the promoter, so I fault the party production company for the mediocre night and not the venue. Then again, if Sugar dished out better drinks, more fun could had been artificially induced. Ok, so I fault the venue also.

A few things you should know about Bruno: 1.He's not a cheap date 2. He's not as low-maintenance as you'd expect, considering the hood he came up in. 3. His friends are douche bags 4. He's got some hot security detail Here's the deal: Friends rented the upstairs bar (complete with poles) for a birthday party this weekend. My friends happen to be rock stars who know how to bring the party, so of course it was good times. However, Bruno's is a little pricey for the atmosphere and location. $16 for two WELL drinks is a little beyond this frugal lady's non-profit budget. And it's just plain unwise to spend that much on two drinks in a neighborhood where it's not hard to find a $4 cocktail. The crowd downstairs was the sort of Marina Douche bag scene that would be heaven for me if I didn't have a boyfriend, as I typically date this particular brand of scum. I got a few free drinks down there, so at least it's a generous bunch of douche bags. The real shining stars here are the security guys, especially the one manning our party. He was my stand-in boyfriend while my sweetheart drove around in circles looking for parking (don't worry, honey- he was a gentleman and not nearly as handsome as you!). The door man was equally charming and refreshingly polite and professional. I've been going to Bruno's in all of it's many incarnations over the past 8 years or so and I'm really on the fence about the current state of affairs there. I probably won't be back because the drinks are too expensive and it's not really my scene. But I would totally rent out the upstairs for a party if all of my friends were rolling in money and getting boozey on the cheap wasn't a priority. The space was nice and the staff was accommodating. Great party! Happy birthday, Bitches!
