I've been meaning to come here for the longest time and I am so thankful that we went last night!! My good friend Rachel and I wanted to just kick back and have a fun girls night out so we walked down Mason and came into the place. Tickets are $20 to get in.. a little steep but we didn't mind. We walked downstairs and there was NO ONE there, but the servers told us there was a full house that night so we cheered up. Once you walk in you forget that just above is the outskirts of the tender-nob and feel like you're in New Orleans. I suggest coming around 6:30 on a Friday or Saturday night, you'll get the best seats in the house and have some time to enjoy your drinks before the show starts. May I just say I was loving the 2-3 drink min. and had some KILLER drinks, but on to that in a minute. My friend and I shared an appetizer, soup and entree and I haven't felt so full since thanksgiving! We had the calamari which was pretty good. A little too salty for me but my friend loved it. Then we had the gumbo OH MY LANTA. This is no joke, just the perfect amount of hot and spicey with tons of delish veggies and sausage. Warmed me right up - loved it! After that we had the fried chicken which was moist and soo good. It comes with a scoop of mashed potatoes and coleslaw. I wasn't able to finish my half of the entree -however. Now drinks. My compliments to the cute bartender last night, he knows how to make a hard drink and I didn't feel bad shelling out $9-$10 for my drinks since it got the job done! I ordered the Bayou long island, very sweet- it's made with white Jamaican rum which gave it a nice light and refreshing taste. I also had 2 AMF's after that. Very good! My friend got a vodka and cranberry and pineapple juice, as well as an appletini which I had a little sip of and was very good. Our bill Came out to $94.50 which included the 20% gratuity, which was not bad considering we had a great show ( I feel soo honored being able to see Honey Boy Edwards! A treat in itself), and a huge meal and lots of good drinks. I will be coming back soon for sure!!

CHEESY! But Decent. Man... I am old school, not new school. I used to come by when it was Prive. Tip #1. PINTO?! G-Ride?! --- Don't drive here unless you're prepared with the appropriate vehicle. If not, cab it, call a friend, borrow your mama's car. Don't come here if you're driving your '62 G-ride, unless it's a blingin'-pimpin' G-Ride. By nice car, I'm talking Korean-Style-Superficial-Luxury G-Rides... Beemers, Lex, Ranges, SL500s, and Aston Martins. The valet lines up next to the line for the club, and trust me - every single person in line does a quick Therefore, if you do not have all the above: CAB it or park across the street. Tip #2. VIP Divas --- If you're a gal, and decent, you get hooked up and let in for free. If not, just be your sassy little self and walk up to the front of the line in the VIP area. You don't wait...Divas don't wait. Tip #3. Big Ballin --- Gentlemen, you better have some serious dough for the rooms. Save up and get a VIP room. The tables/booths on the main floor are soo lame. That tells us women that you're cheap and here for just the girls. The only reason why chicks stay for those 2 seconds of getting booked to your booth is for the free drinks. Tip #4. Say NO to "STOP & GO" --- To follow up on Tip #3. Gentlemen, don't get swindled by those Stop-And-Go HOES. You know, the ones that get booked to your table, give you the irresistable coy look, giggle, make small talk, drink your drinks... then have a sudden urge to "go to the bathroom." Instead, trap them. Make them sit in the middle of the booth and you boys should sit at the ends of the table. Tip #5. CHASER=DIRTY --- Don't drink out of the chasers past midnight. After many rounds of gals visiting the booths/rooms... you'll find out that (the smart ones) been slyly spitting back their free shots into the chasers. That's so dirty. DIRTY. If you're actually going to take the shot, chase it with fruit or BYOC. Bring your own chaser. Sounds lame, but hey, better than drinking someone's spit. Tip #6. SHIRTLESS --- gag. The bartenders are shirtless. If your body is anything but bangin' ---- Please, respect yourself and respect humanity and keep those shirts on. Overall, you're not going to get the same authentic Korean experience... but it's the best place in LA for a "KP" night.

BOo.. the slide was closed. :p A group of us visited Slide for a friend's birthday last Sunday (Labor Day weekend). It was horrendously crowded, probably b/c of the long weekend. Even so, we waited no more than 10 minutes to get in- only to be met by a super stuffy humid atmosphere. The venue was packed with people by 10:30pm. Sweaty people all around. Every now and then, I'd think, "Wow this is such a fire hazard." or "Ew omg don't touch me with your sweat beaded arms." Not comfortable. Pros: nice decor, very very low lighting, nice restrooms. Cons: the bar was incredibly slow and inefficient, (read: 30 minutes to get a round of drinks!?) venue was overcrowded, air was stuffy and warm. Overall- very nice venue, perhaps less crowded on a normal weekend. 4 stars if they had opened the slide. I'm still bitter.
