After Micky's burned a few years back, the architect of the new space must have taken a trip to Seattle - and to Manray, specifically - because the central bar at Micky's looks *just like* the bar at Manray. Be original, fool. Our server, Dave, was all right - nice guy. "Big Mike," who came by later on, was a complete dickhead (and not in any sort of pleasurable way). Saw *one* bartender with chest hair. Come *on*, LA.
by Etta P. on + A place that will take your trashed ass in when it's 2am and staying out seems like a good idea + Great music & dance scene/crowd + Smoking room, if you're into that + All sorts of people high on all sorts of things - Expensive cover charge (the females were "discounted" to $10) - Expensive drinks (paying for the illegality of it all no doubt) - ....toilet paper rations? Really? - Pray there's never an emergency - there's only one way in and out of this loft Overall, the place is fairly bare-bones - but let's be serious. If you willingly seek out Insomnia, you're not exactly in a state of mind to be appreciating little details anyways... go, pay, dance! You'll have an amazing night & get home at 6am probably wishing you had more money left.
by Evonne Villani on Cozy little place on the corner that's easy to miss. Random Wednesday night, a friend and I were bored...we ended up going back Thursday and Friday. Good music, mostly underground hip-hop, rap, jazz, reggae, dancehall...very laid back throughout the week...hyped up over the weekend. Cover price $5-$10 Not worth going early...just show up at midnight. More likely to pay $5 cover. Dark, lanterns, booths to sit and cozy up. There two rooms on the weekend: Hip-hop and Salsa...drinks priced...hmmm Long Island Iced Tea: $12 This is my new hangout. I could go here by myself and not feel bad. Everyone is down to just have a good time. Down to earth hip hop head, dreadlocked fine looking men. Must pay cash at the door. Parking: Valet is $7 and worth it...it's hard to find Thurs-Sun on the street. Bar closed on Monday. -Enjoy *If you plan on going, send a message my way. Get some booze and dance!
