Rockin' place. We had heard that LIV was the place to be, so one of my friends called the promoter and asked about prices for reservations when we were going to be in town. VERY steep, as many others have observed. We decided not to do bottle service and try our luck at the door. My friend called the promoter a few hours before we came and asked if he could help us get in even though we weren't going to do bottle service, and he said sure. Skeptically, all ten of us chicks rolled up around 12:30 on a Saturday night, NOT dressed as hookers. And we're pretty normal-looking ladies. There was a big crowd waiting to get picked to go in, so my friend shimmied up to the front and asked for the promoter. We were past the ropes in 5 minutes, feeling the stabbing glares on our backs from everyone else who was waiting. I guess sometimes it just pays to be nice! The place was amazing. It wasn't hot and stuffy like a lot of other clubs, and the music kicked--I love electronic mixes! We shelled out a ton of money for drinks ($16 for a vodka cranberry), but the night was a blast. My friends apparently saw some famous people, but I probably wouldn't have known if I saw anyone since I'm not into that. There are a couple of different areas to dance--but we chose the main floor. We fought our way to the dance floor (and fought to stay ON the dance floor--break out your elbows!), but got a chance to shake our booties all night long. One thing that I found hilarious is that for the most part--everyone's too busy watching everyone else to dance! Great venue, great music. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town.

More than half a year ago, a coworker and I found ourselves in here after dinner hours. The decor is nice, but the place smelled like poo. In the bar area, I unwillingly exchanged a few words with an old guy and a divorced guy, both of whom where assholes. Of course. I'd come back, but earlier for dinner because the steak was recommended. Hopefully not the source of the smell. I think the Steak Lounge concept is not-so-great.

We decided to just pop into Bruno's around 9pm on a Friday for one of their fabulous cucumber gimlets. Decided to stay for dinner. The dinner menu is rather limited - I had the penne bolognese, Jen had the chicken on polenta and Greg had some kind of steak. The food was OK, nothing exceptional (except apparently for my penne. Read on for details). When we got there, there was hardly anyone in the place. By the time we left, the place was packed and the service went down the toilet. We couldn't find our waitress to get our bill. It took forever to get box for leftovers (greg thought my penne rocked and he took the rest of it!). It go so crowded, so loud, so fast I had to leave. While waiting outside I realized what the situation was - all the barely-21's were trying to get in before 10pm when Bruno's starts to charge a cover! Oh! Now I get it! Greg left the place in a bad mood because of the lousy service at the end of our stay and that made me sad, which is why I'm only offering up 3 stars. The remodel (which has been remodeled for how long now?) is really nice, and I'll go back to Bruno's for the addictive gimlet, but I'll definitely not forget the 10pm curfew for the old-timers like myself.
