This review refers ONLY to the bowling venue. We went on a Saturday afternoon in January. Four of us, myself, my wife and 2 boys bowled two games after waiting about 30-40 minutes for a lane. The cost for just bowling 2 games with shoes was about $92. Very expensive entertainment but if you like very loud music and numerous giant screens, you'll like the atmosphere. You can only order food at the bar. A bartender, who is also making drinks for the entire place, takes your order for food and you must pay for it at the time you order. A light snack for each of us brought the food tab to over $42. The cost wasn't bad but the service was horrible. I had to request trimmings to my burger 3 times and the bartender didn't get it right all 3 times. The fries were ice cold. After complaining to a manager, I received a new steaming hot burger exactly as I requested it with hot fries at no charge. The burger was excellent and cooked very well. Although it is a family friendly place on a Saturday afternoon, with the loud music, I would recommend it more for younger people or couples without smaller children. (My boys are 4 and 6). We had fun but at that cost there are many more choices in Manhattan.

I went to my first DEMF experience this past weekend, and a few friends from New York threw parties at this bar. It's absolutely gorgeous. The beer selection is great, the sound resonates well off of the wood walls, and in most spots the temperature is kept really well. Smoking indoors has become a bit of a luxury since it's been banned in so many other states, and it was nice to be able to open a tab, for once, in the midst of such a cash-only festival. I've heard the food is great, but I'll have to see for myself next year - definitely my favorite bar in Detroit.

Lauren's review of Martuni's resonates with me. Especially since my evening at Martuni's consisted of one martini, two martini, one vodka cranberry and then passing out at 10pm. My tolerance is slipping in mah old age. I have vague recollections of making pizza English muffins for Michelle and singing "Seasons of Love" at the top of my lungs with Joshua "Mascarawand" L.. and of perhaps some reckless drunk texting on my part... did I make out with Ed? I may have. Ah, DYL no matter how you change, you stay the same. And, DYGay was FABULOUS! Love it. One star subtracted because it took the cocktail person 15 minutes to take my order for martini number one. And, then he rolled his eyes at the tip I gave him.
