When I read people griping on Rateclub about how this place is packed with old folks, I knew it would be right up my alley-- The elderly, more often than not, have got it right! I came here for the first time two years ago on my birthday for weekend night dance-party table service and we very much enjoyed the views-- both of the ice rink below and city beyond, as well as the indoor views of older, gold-chain-wearing, off-duty-limo-driver-looking dudes trying to get their swerve on with their "working-girl" dates. We returned for my birthday this year on a Monday, so no cover and the bar was nearly empty. The views were just as stellar, the space just as charming, the bartender was entertaining and open to experimentation (I was with a couple of cocktail snobs)... We had just come from a completely unsavory experience at Top of the Mark. Never again will I cheat on Harry when I want my old-school SF special-occasion fix.

My favorite tacos! I work at 7th at Townsend and will make an effort to trek over to Nick's for their heavenly goodness stuff wrapped with yummy crispy-ness. It's a good idea to try them all but my favorite are the fish and carne tacos. Make sure you get it Nick's way with cheese and guac. Their chips, salsa and guac is also a great starter.

While walking around aimlessly looking for dinner off of 6th street we decided to give el sol a try due to the guy outside telling us about happy hour all night long. The service was pretty slow and I wasn't all that impressed with the food. Im not sure about the rest of the menu but nothing on the happy hour menu was really worth while.
