My girlfriends and I were planning on a nice, fun girls night at Yoshi's last Friday. We were running late and had reservations at 8:30 so I called the restaurant to let them know we would be late. The man on the phone nicely said, "Come whenever..." So, needless to say, we took our time getting ready and got there at 8:50. When we got there, Surprisingly the host/manager there would not seat us. He said they were expecting a private party at 9 and they had to clear all the tables. His attitude and approach was very unprofessional and completely ruined our night! He even gave us the hand at one point! The funny thing was when we walked down from the lounge, we saw many empty tables in the dinning room. Bad service ruins Good Food!

My first time at Bimbos was last Friday when I went to see Tainited Love. The night got off to a bad start when I left my ticket a home. It was a print at home ticket, and I had the ticket number on my Blackberry but was told they needed the actual paper ticket. Annoyed I went to the coffee shop down the street and printed the ticket. Yes my fault, but I image I am not the first person to forget their printed ticket. Get into Bimbos, buy a round of drinks for the girls. $5 a bottle for Bud Light! Not even Miller Light or Sierra Nevada, but Bud Light, oh and they only take cash. Get to the floor of the concert, great sound, great vibe lots of fun. By now I am on my 3rd Bud and have spent way over $30 bucks on drinks, if you call Bud Light a drink, more like water to me. So I have to go to the bathroom, and the line for the woman's rest room is out the door and into the bar, at least 30 people in line. No one is in the men's line so I make a run for it with two other girls. We take care of business, and as we walk out the door back to the show, we are taken by security and told to leave "Hope you had a good time, there are no exceptions, you can leave now" Shocked! Who does that? After spending money on my ticket PLUS their $5 service charge, and money on their drinks, I get kicked out for peeing!?!?! Now I understand using the men's restroom may not be the best thing, or the best choice I have ever made, but this is the first time I have ever gotten in trouble for using the men's restroom! Not to mention there were not posted signs, or anything telling me that this was illegal! I will never go back to Bimbos, regardless of who is playing. Their over priced beers, rude service and lack of restroom stalls is just not my type of place.

This place... where to begin? Maybe I'll start with something that nobody else has mentioned:  this is a one of LA's strangest gay bars. After passing it several times and hearing good things, I told some friends to meet me here on a Saturday night.  Before I got there, one of them texted me, "Did you know this was a gay bar?"  I was skeptical until I arrived to find every patron armed with a Y chromosome and an opinion about whether the London production of "Les Miserables" was superior to the New York. It looks like your uncle's rumpus room did after he remodeled it in the eighties. Lots of oak cabinets, blue carpet, and a mural of England on the wall (?).  The only difference between it and your uncle's rumpus room is probably that there's no L'il Wayne lookalike making out with an old dude in the corner. It was also aggressively decorated for Christmas.  The piano player did a range of carols and show tunes, for some of which he worked in his own lyrics about tampons and liking Hamburger Helper shoved up his ass. Strong drinks.
