So, there are several layers to this place: bar, restaurant, dance club, etc. This is about the restaurant. Great service. Great decor. You can see the chef through a window in the back, working over a flaming grill. Great drink list: extensive tequila selection, 26 margarita/mojito flavours (we had orange, peach, pineapple, and coconut). Corn chowder was especially good; our other food was good, but nothing to write home about. The guacamole is superb; they prepare it table-side, if you want. And kudos on the excellent cafe padre presentation at the end of the meal.

Came here on a saturday night and it was pretty busy. The valet guy took forever to help us and it cost 20 bucks. The doorman was an asshole but our friend knew a promoter so we were able to get in for free so that was pretty sweet. Once we got in, we took the elevator up to the 3rd floor which was house music. Pretty cool, big tv screen and gogo dancers and looots of people but I was not feeling the music very much. Later on when the stairway was more clear we went down to the first floor which i thought would be better because it was supposed to be hip hop music. But alas, the music sucked and the bass was turned allll the way up and vibrating my frickin bones. 2 stars cause the place was pretty happenin and nice inside but filled with sucky music and mostly old creepers on the dancefloor. I was with great company so I still had a good time, so (girls) make sure you go with fun people or else you might end up dancing to mediocre music and fending off old dudes all night.

This is my current favorite place to dance. And that's what I've been saying for all the years I've lived in San Francisco. Usually good music, and usually something for everyone in your party due to the 2 rooms. Staff is friendly except for one big grumpy door-guy who steals everyone's water at the end of the night. Crowd is very friendly, and generally not too meat-markety (they're all down the street at the Holy Cow) - and even those types seem to tone it down in here 'cause this place is for all walks (and crawls) of life. Open till 3 too!
