Rock Box is basically an Asian-style karaoke bar, in which you have your own room, like Encore or SBK (good for those too shy to sing in a big room full of strangers). The big difference: it's got a really swank decor, a full bar with a menu of fun drinks, servers in each room, and you use an iPad to select your songs. An iPad to select your songs! GENIUS! You can use it to reorder your queue and all that. They've got a really good selection of songs, and the staff tells me they update the list with new songs every 3 months. Good prices, too. Speaking of the staff... Hot Capitol Hill chicks! Oh yeah! Here's a tip. This place is going to be open til 4 on weekends. That means you can get drunk, and sober up while singing before you have to drive home. Nice!
by Lyndsey Venosh on I really like this place. I LOVE THE ART WORK! The music is cool and when they have both rooms open its great to be able to go back and forth for a change of scenery. I also like the events like 1994 night! Having a photographer ready to go is great! I dont like the cover at the door! And the prices are a bit high. I only come here on special occasions or when a friend asks very nicely due to the cover and the inconvenient parking.

But with majority of people there still in college mode, music so loud I had no chance of holding a conversation, and then no place to dance, we stayed for one drink and got the heezy outta there! Though my dirty martini was well made, it wasn't enough to hold us down.
