I cant believe I went to this place. You need to have lots of money AND know someone who knows someone to get in, then you are thrown around in a crowd full of people that are checking out their own reflections as often as possible while fist-pumping to god awful music. If someone dropped a bomb on that place and I died, just for being there, I would deserve that. $10 valet up front.

I would say I had a good time here, but I don't think I came at its primetime on a Saturday night. I came after Happy Hour on an empty Friday evening. It's quite hidden in an alley in the Union Sq dist and there were no obvious signs pointing to it. That is good because I can see this place going over capacity fast! You enter and the first people you meet are the coat checkers. Real cool gals who said it was complimentary. They gladly took all our wet coats and umbrellas and wished us a good time. You then go down the flight of stairs to what you expect to be some dank basement. Well it's not dank; it's a SWANK basement! ohsnap. I'm always noticing a business' decor and use of ambiance... Vessel hired a pro designer. My buddy raved how they use LED lights under the couches and along runway to really set the mood, even noting how one section will be red, the other blue, etc. The bar was real unique with what looked to be an illuminated faux grained wood. Really dug the bathroom... It's open, meaning it's not in seperate rooms and it's unisex. So just pick a stall and squat. Helpful staff members direct you around the confusing layout and grab an expensive paper towel for you after washing your hands. Now the drinks... my usual - Vodka tonic... most excellent! I hate it when you can taste the awful metal taste of cheap vodka and I hate it when you cant taste the vodka due to the overly sweet tonic. They nailed the mixture here and they must use a high brand named vodka. And they serve it in nice big glasses... that's a sign how classy this place is. How much are the drinks here? I do not know... the gents hooked it up! I'm sure it varies each night, but with the sparse crowd, they were playing some mellow jazzy beats. It's not something to dance to, but good to lounge with and speak normally enough to gripe about the 9-5. Does Vessel warrant repeat visits? For me, only for special occassions. Parking.. ha good luck. Surrounding dinner options would be pricey and cheap nearby burrito/pizza/greasy Chinese food joints for the drunken munchies are no where to be found. Check it out before the hype ends.
