by jimmy h. on I love this place. Unique people, atmosphere. Great music, high flying faries on Wed. nights, stage performances. Dance till your feet are sore, laugh like there is no tomorrow. I recommend checking this place out.
by Thao T. on Wow. San Francisco...you never cease to amaze me. First, the food, secondly, the people, thirdly, the cold chill of winter in the middle of August, fourthly, Full House, and now, Nightlife. Highlights: definitely the architecture and design of the aquarium-just beautiful. They had the most unique selection of life forms here...an alligator fish, what the heck? Fish with glow in the dark eyes? 21+ and over only. A DJ, dim lights, and cocktails all around. Great for hanging out with a group of friends or as a couple. Only in San Francisco...
by Milan Bergsman on One of the perks of going to the gym is that chances are you will know some dudes who moonlight as bouncers. Luckily for me, the guys who go to the 24 Hour Fitness near my house make up the brunt of the security staff here at Roe. I have never had to pay cover charge, and they usually let me bring as many people as I want. Heck, they even spot me beverages all the time, but I usually just give them to someone else, since I don't drink. However, to be quite honest with you, if I didn't have the hook ups, I probably wouldn't consider paying full cover charge to this place. It's okay, but nothing spectacular. The crowd is somewhat mixed, but majority Asian. They also seem to be of the second tier, and certainly nowhere near the Bay Area's finest. Once in awhile, Roe does attract celebrities. I have run into the likes of Golden State Warriors, Andris Biedrins, Zarko Cabarkapa and Troy Murphy (thankfully, we won't have to see his mug around here anymore), and obviously, they really stand out. I don't know though if they actually chose this place on their own, or if they were invited guests. One thing Roe does have going for it is the DJ. Aren't you guys tired of going to clubs to hear only one genre of music? Don't get me wrong, I like hip hop or dance music as much as anyone, but being bomdarded with the same thing over and over, night after night can become quite taxing. I know there are many of you out there with an eclectic taste, who can feel just as comfortable enjoying hair metal, new jack swing, old school rap, 80's, teenybopper pop, or classic rock. If that's the case, this is the place for you. The DJ literally plays everything under the kitchen sink. However, since this is also a mostly non-Bay Area native clientele in attendance, classic Bay slaps like they bump in San Jose clubs are not commonly thrown in the mix. Parking around this area is much safer than at places like DNA or Mighty, where there is, as Mase would say, "Broken glass everywhere," so you should never have to fear for your property or body being violated. In short, as long as my friends continue working here, I shall be back for more, but once they decide to cease their employment, I shall also follow suit.
