We had made reservations for dinner but still had to wait over a half an hour to be seated. It was OK though because we just hit up the bar and hung out outside on their patio, which is pretty nice, dark with string lights and a bar outside too. We were pretty much the only people out there, however, it wasn't even 9pm yet. We finally got seated and I do have to say, the interior is fun...velvet, kitschy, dark red, royal blue, and black. The ahi civeche was very good! The meat in the carne asada taco was cooked perfectly, slightly on the med-rare side and delicious. The mango margaritas are pretty good but I'd request a better tequila rather than their well tequila or whatever they put in there, maybe it's Cuervo. After dinner we went back outside and it was much more crowded. The DJ was now playing and some people were dancing but I soon got over the place. It's a cool spot to maybe start your night and have some dinner and drinks and then move on.

This is my happy place. Having a gourmet dinner served to you while lounging on a bed, experiencing live performing art, and listening to internationally known dj's spin is my idea of a damn good time.

I really enjoy playing pool -- so this rating is based mostly with pool-playing in mind. Caveat emptor! I haven't tried Jillian's on a weekend night, but I've hoofed it over there during weekdays to play pool, have a couple of drinks, and occasionally do lunch at the same time. Food wasn't bad. Actually, it was a lot better than I expected from a place with more of a reputation as a sports bar than an eatery. Friends that were with me shared the same sentiment. Not someplace I'd have in mind as a dining destination -- but for nibbles while playing pool, not at all bad. Shooting stick there in the afternoons is great. Regulation-sized tables (8 or 10 of 'em)... no wait... not expensive. Fairly knowledgeable (and good) bartenders, though service can be a bit slow. Table-side service while playing is sorta available... if the server makes a pass through the area. Better to just head to the bar yourself if you want refreshments. Tables are in good shape for the most part. Idiots have dimpled the felt from setting the front ball in the rack... but other than that, they're level, the cues all have good tips and I haven't come across a warped one yet. Still -- always better to bring your own :-) Definitely *not* the place to go if any kind of sporting event is being televised. All of the pool tables will be covered and it'll be standing-room-only. Blech. Overall -- a good place to kill a couple of hours playing pool with friends. There aren't many places with good tables left... so it's nice to find one so close to downtown. They also have a great reputation for hosting local charitable events... good for getting the warm-fuzzies over spending a few bucks there.
