Took my kids out to a late lunch. Found parking right in front of the restaurant. Whoopy-do! That's a first. lol. The interior is awesome. Very retro. I really like the atmosphere, it's not loud like other places I have been to. The food was ok. I ordered spring rolls, the lotus salad and the Le Viet Pho. The spring rolls were on the smaller side. The lotus salad is very tasty. I enjoyed it. The pho was horrible. It tasted like a 30 minute broth. The meatballs were cut into fours and my kids said "it tasted horrible." I also ordered 2 limeades, and 1 coconut drink. The waiters brought my limeades to the next table and than went to check the order when the table said they didn't order. After checking which table ordered the drinks, they still haven't brought the coconut drink over. The waiter comes back and said "it wasn't on the order." I thought "what a typical Asian restaurant?" It's the typical blame it on the guest trick. I repeated the order to the waiter before he put the order in. So, I am clueless to why he even said "you didn't order a coconut drink." The wait staff were uniform and trendy looking but needs to learn more about fine dinning service. I would suggest going to Davio's for dinner and seeing their world class service. I've heard so many good things about this restaurant and after eating in it. I don't think I would go back. The food is just not up to par when it comes to authenticity. Having a pretty plate vs. tasty meals is like feeding someone who doesn't know how to cook. I prefer tasty food vs. pretty plate. It is a plus when you can get both but let's face the facts. Vietnamese food is typically not fine dinning.

I really miss the Star Bar and its photo booth. I saw many, many shows here during my Atlanta days. Hands down best Star Bar moment ever - Neko Case lifting up her shirt on stage because she had "just seen a cop walk by the front door." Love it.

I'm torn on this one. I have been going to Bootie since it was held at the Cherry Bar & Lounge. I loved it then, and I still love it now (I always have fun). But I might love it more if the crowd hadn't changed so much. I am really happy for Adrian and Mysterious D- they have pulled together an amazing monthly spectacle (and I mean that in the most positive way). But as it's popularity has grown, the crowd has definitely changed. It used to be a nice mix of alt's, the gay crowd, and 25-35-aged folks there to dance their asses off. Now it's become pretty b&t and everyone seems really young. I know, I sound old and bitter but it's just my own observation at last night's Bootie. (Speaking of last night's Bootie- I heard a first for me: a mash-up of Beyonce and Led Zeppelin. Whoa.) In all fairness, I also think that each Bootie is entirely different from the other. So while last night might have felt b&t and young, next month could be completely different. Believe me, I will be there to find out.
