american bar food-type tacos For any taco here, you can't settling for anything less than "nick's way" (soft and crispy shell + the guacamole and cheese). It's the signature. Otherwise, you might as well go elsewhere. That being said, the guacamole is so scrumptious that it kind of suffocates the taco. The first time I went here, the pescado (fried fish) was the way to go. But I find myself preferring the non-fried one at this point. I wouldn't go with the pork (way too sweet) - it reminds you how much the carnitas at the humble taco truck down the street still wipes the floor with the american version. The decor is a bit jarring the first time around. Parking has always been awful and finding a seat is even worse, particularly during the post-dinner pre-clubbing rush. The experience of eyeing tables while waiting in line is already uncomfortable as is the nomadic existence I find myself leading while clutching my number and waiting for seats. What makes it far worse, however, is the high ratio of inebriated douchebags lording over empty glasses and trays while they leer at the fairer sex... if only fewer girls would return those glances, I might not have to always eat my food standing up.

If you need to get a hold of me on a Thursday night, whether you need to: 1. Make sweet love to me. 2. Need a second in a game of "Just the Tip." 3. You want to kill me. Just roll down Hollywood Blvd. and get your ass into Mood, my Thursday night spot for the past two years. I've pretty much spent thousands on drinks during that time in this place, and I continue to come back because: 1. They have the best bartenders in the world! (Ask for Chris and/or Carrie. They will hook you up.) 2. Three words: A. Z. N. This is where I get my AZN kick. 3. Best club sound system in all of Hollywood. And if I miss going for a week or two, I come back the following week with a flurry of: 1. "Yo, where were you at last week?" 2. "Man, you missed out on some skeezers on the dancefloor!" 3. "Hey, man, remember that $20 I let you borrow last month?" Needless to say, this place is highly suggested on Thursday nights.

love it. where else can you see an art opening, a 3-piece jazz band, and a lonely acoustic modern-day folklorist? all in the same day? for free, even, while enjoying a glass of the tastiest and most carefully selected wines in any club i've been to in all of SF? the rite spot! you hit me rite there, baby. awesome bartenders and good pours, free shows (donation to musicians) and a great place for friends to gather. thank you for being you! now i just have to go sometime when i'm hungry and pounce on those olfactorily delightful burgers...
