The same owner as Aura nightclub nearby on 309 1st Ave S bought Heavens nightclub and remodeled. This was previously the Cat Walk before it was Heavens and now Volume. With the larger venue than Aura they will feature live acts and big name dj's here. DJ Jazzy Jeff was spinning at the Grand Opening on Oct 29, 2010. They have a large private VIP section. They did a great job on the remodel and the lighting and it's very clean with a clean crowd and good security.

HORRIBLE. This club was the worst ever! thought it had good reviews. Celebrity birthday. Raul from Ultimate Sin sent us to the third floor. We arrived at 12 pm. Told us to text when we arrived but promoter didn't respond. We should of known when we saw dumpy guys and gals leaving the place to save our money this Saturday. We spent $60 (2 cute girls) to get in thinking "ok it's 4 floors right?". Got into the 3rd floor were we purchased two small drinks $25. The music sucked. Lots of guys...lots of space. Lounge tables empty. One guy managed to spill his drink down my back. Then we were denied access to all other floors. 25 min into our experience, we left. Some nice woman on the Blvd felt pity on us and let us into the hip hop performance in the restaurant, but that too wasn't great and there were very few people. Never did see the star, nor her party. Save your $ or hit up a hotel room at the Hollywood Hills hotel. Spend your $ at the Magic Castle for an unforgettable night. I can't believe we left the Castle early for this complete dive! Never again!!!

I should like Club Waziema, and I actually have given them a great review on Rateclub. CW is in my neighborhood too, which is all the more frustrating that it's recently been super busy, super slow and just sort of lazy, making me not want to frequent this otherwise delicious Ethiopian option. In fact, last week we waited for almost 20 minutes to order a drink; instead of staying we left in frustration and went over to Rassela's. Wow, what a difference. I wasn't a huge fan of Rassela's when they were in Pacific Heights (where Solictice is now). But this new location, right near the Fillmore, is something else. It was a slow Tuesday, so not too busy. The space is set up to showcase the jazz bands that play there - and that can get a little noisy and hard for conversation. That said, the food is top notch, nicely spiced, filling (do not be afraid of the steak tartare!). We also had the excellent meat samosas beforehand - probably not necessary - but oh so good. I'm not sure if they are the best Ethiopian out there, but man, when I was hungry and needed my injera bread fix, Rassela's was there with open arms.
