i really enjoyed this bar, too bad it's kinda far for me. i love the deep red decor, the chandeliers, the plush couches...i went there for a friend's bday and there was a burlesque show there that same night and it so happens that one of my friend was performing that as well...great entertaining show. as for the drinks, it was LA prices.

I love the ear. The drinks and food are a mite over priced for the quality, but it's by no means expensive. It's really the building itself that is the draw here. The place reeks of history. It's been in operation since the early 1800's and continues to draw a laid back crowd to it's relatively out of the way locale. One of my favorite talking points of the Ear is the mooring post in front that indicates the former Hudson River line. Manhattan has grown literally 1/2 a mile wider since The Ear was founded. It's not too often you can get a pint of Guinness and a history lesson at the same spot.

I have been here a few times since it opened and it has fast become one of my favorite places to hang out and get a drink. Perfect location - go to El Chile, Eastside Cafe, or El Gringo for dinner, then walk on over here afterwards. Crowd is generally quiet enough so you can actually have a conversation with your friends or date in a normal tone of voice. The beer on tap is served in a big heavy glass goblet...unique, but a bit cumbersome to carry around.
