Can we go negative?????? Over price motherF******* I came there at the line. Didn't even want to get there in the first place nor knew their history. They had $50 cover, I am so sure because we did not fit the part of their selected guest....stupid assholes.... It's a place that a guy kissed another guy on the cheek to show that they are more important than the next. So a friend of ours convinced us to visit for a second night only to find out they were asking for something like $650 per bottle per table...F that ish that's my plane right back and forth twice. It really disgusts me on how there is a chance they could have made the shit up just so we wouldn't come in....BS..

Well I gotta give major props to Bruno's.  They definitely made my 30th birthday one to remember and hooked me up with a GREAT venue to get down with a great crew of friends. To give you a little context - it was pouring rain outside and the downstairs at Bruno's was PACKED shoulder to shoulder.  It was a busy Saturday night, and it looked like everyone was having a great time.  Well, we had talked to Bruno's a few weeks earlier and reserved the upstairs lounge (The Pussycat Lounge) for my birthday party.  Its a great space that can fit 50-60 people comfortably (80 capacity.)  We had our own cash premium bar all to ourselves (no waiting for drinks - bonus!), our own dj spinning for us, and a great space to hang out in with couches, tables, and plenty of standing/dancing room.  Everything we were looking for.  We even ordered big party platters of sliders and calamari and other goodies for the party. The staff at Bruno's were great.  Judging from the service and atmosphere we had upstairs, you would never even know that it was completely packed downstairs with a line out the front door to get in.  I've got to think that this is one of the best spots in the mission for a private party get together with 60 of your closest friends. Our party rocked and I think everyone had a great time.  We closed out Bruno's that night and would have stayed much later if it were possible.  HIGHLY recommended!

Am I the only one who has succumbed to the fact that drinks just -are- expensive? Coming from LA where it seems to be becoming normal in the more elitist locations that martinis will be $17, $10 for a cocktail is actually reasonable for a premium outing location... and folks, this is Manhattan, which claims to be one of the most expensive cities in the world... relax! If you can't afford to drink at a bar, then drink in an alley before you go in. (or both, like me) I had a great time at Duvet. Someone warned me before pointing me in this direction on a Thursday that it was stuck up and kind of hoity-toity to be headed to for my first outing of the trip in Manhattan, but I went nevertheless. I found it to be a bit gritty from my LA frame of reference. No, it's not gritty at all, but NY just is kind of gritty in general in the best way possible. This was a polished version of NY's grit. People are eager to dance here! Thursdays are fun, because the gays hop to the dancefloor to a very eclectic mix. I felt as though I'd entered the stereotypical welcome to the city, as moments after landing I traipsed over, walked in, and Madonna's "I Love New York" was playing (mind you, this was days after the release of that album). Though I hated the song, I felt like me walking in at that moment was purely kismet. I ended up dancing on someone's bed table, getting to know them, and going to get sub-park diner food afterwards. This is a great bar with a great crowd. I had fun. Stop complaining.
