This is the new favorite hot spot...BUT only on the right night!! which is MONDAY only! ....you have to be somebody...but if you get in....its the greatest Dj on the tables, A-LISt crowd, dancing, and the bartenders hook you up....just make sure you have the connection...its well worth it

I needed a place to watch football last week thanks to Time Warner not carrying the NFL network. So I settled on Busbys (east). I had never been there before and have been meaning to check it out. After the door guy gave me a look up and down, I was approved for entry. Whatever, come on, it's football. Busbys is in the old Conga Room location. There is a sports bar with pool tables, dart boards, a ton of flat screen TVs and a dance floor/night club area. As big as it sounds, it's actually not that big. The 15 or so tables they had were already taken and so was every stool at the bar. The pool table area was "closed for a private event" that remained empty throughout the entire night. We would have to settle to stand off to the side of the bar. They have about 20 beers on tap, a decent selection. Food is typical bar food. Pizza, fried finger foods, hamburger, steaks, chicken, etc. I wanted to try something from the tapas menu at El Toro Cantina, their restaurant on the first floor, but you can't. So we decided to snack on a pretty bland cheese quesadilla and go out for sushi at Saki House after. I doubt I will be returning to Busbys. With the lame door guy vibe, the lack of good seating and the so-so menu, my quest continues for a good sports bar.

I never really figured out what britpop meant, but I did catch on pretty quick that the best danceparty in town is Britpop Wednesday at MJQ. The unique under-the-ground club gets packed around 12:30 and then the only way to get off the dancefloor is to carve a space out on the wall benches (yes benches). But you can't hide from the loud bumpin' music. There's two rooms, each very different, and the second plays it funky. You'll see some breakdancers here most likely. It's the kind of place where the ceiling leaks when it rains, they don't take credit cards, you don't order martinis, and nobody really cares.
