by Rubin Rademan on After about an hour at Avenue we headed over to Lavo (same owners, newer spot - guaranteed good time). Bypassed about 500 people outside which always makes the night even better - thanks again to Jason, Andrew, and Christian! Stroll downstairs and the place is GOING OFF. Exactly what we were looking for. Nice crowd, great music, tasty drinks (only $13!) .... and a few perfect hours of fun ... Definitely coming back next time in NYC (unless of course something else is the hot spot of the moment)
by CT .. on Though I like to wear heels and can find the stairs in this place to be quite tedious - I'll still go to this place to see a show if someone I like is playing without question. It sounds good (provided the person doing sound knows what they're doing), got a good location, and the staff is nice. What more can you expect from a venue?!
by Sean Gierhart on Great place to see a show like "The Dan Band." Sweet looking stage, great sound system, awesome show. TDB deserves their own review (I'll say FIVE Stars, and wonder aloud if there's ever been a review-within-a review on rateclubs.) If you book with ten or so in your party, you'll get a table. Good choice. Somewhat random hostess service lead to us standing around a little longer than we should have before an escort to our seats. Laidback table service with a two drink min was hampered by the stress thrown onto too few servers serving a full house. Our second round procured after a few pleas followed by a caravan to the bar. (The bar version of my martini was at least 1/3 bigger, go figure the jigger). Food (apps, pizzas etc.) looked and smelled good, but we came to drink and see the show. Lot parking stupid-pricy, so go early and find something else, or simply take the limo, dahling. But this is a fun place to see a show. All sorts of regular folk made up the crowd, which also included a couple different generations of celebs. Which points more likely toward "The Dan Band" demo instead of Avalon Hollywood. Cause, after the show, a line of leggy clubcrawlers await entry...
