I went to Woodfire grill on a recent business trip to Atlanta and I was so excited to try Kevin's restaurant (Top Chef Season 6). Maybe my expectations were too high because of Top Chef but the food was not at the caliber I was expecting. The restaurant itself is lovely with a great atmosphere. We had 3 appetizers, a spring salad, crab fritters and the third was so unmemorable I can't even remember it. They were all so-so. We ordered a bottle of pinot noir which was not very good and probably shouldn't even be on their wine list. They do make they own bread which was excellent. Then the entrees came. I got the pork loin because pork is Kevin's specialty but it was some of the worst pork I've ever had and undercooked too. The sauce and sides that came with it were good but I couldn't even finish the pork it was so undercooked. One friend had the duck which she let me try and I've had better and two other friends both got the halibut. The halibut was fantastic, funny because it's one of the only items on the menu not locally grown/caught. We also had a side of gritz which was good. For desert, we had the avocado creme brulee and the cheesecake. Both deserts were very good. So all in all, not a horrible experience but not what I was expecting either.

Went here on a Saturday after getting kicked out of The Park because of my friend's sneakers. Great venue. It's huge inside, with an ample-sized dance floor. Décor is Japanese-themed, of course, and it works. The DJ was pretty good, playing a mix of your regular club songs, some older classics (from "This Is How We Do It" to Journey), and also some good obscure songs that none of us had ever heard before. However he's one of those DJs that for some reason likes to play beatless transitions, which are cool I guess but interrupt the flow and can cause awkward standstill moments on the dance floor between songs. We waited in line for ~10 min outside, and there was a $25 cover. Dress code isn't that strict (sneakers OK), although the bouncers literally looked at all the guys individually from head to toe. Crowd is a pretty diverse mix and generally friendly. The bar is slow and understaffed, with a $50 minimum for credit cards. At $10+ per drink, not hard to get there. While not the cheapest or most accessible experience, I would definitely go again occasionally. Make sure to check out Pop Burger just down the street afterwards to top off the night.

I've only had the food once here. AND IT WAS GOOD. I've been here many a times for drinks though. And I find that I need to point some things out that are awesome about this place: pool table in back, jukebox containing phil collins hits, bartender/owner who is as attentive as she is charming, and the pictures of said bartender/owner in boostiers and fur on the wall that probably date back to the 50s or 60s (I think there's one with boobs in it). And there's an eentsy weentsy room where you can have intimate chitchat whilst sipping on drinks. Great place for groups, bad place for obnoxious drunkards who happen to be British and over 40 (there's always one whenever I come here).
