by Floretta Hertel on Rolled in here at about 1am last Friday - place was just getting going. Nice crowd, pretty much everything we expected but it just wasn't "rockin" yet and we were in the mood to dance, etc - so we headed to Lavo. (check review there) .... I'd definitely come back to Avenue - the staff (esp Andrew who took care of us at the door and the bartender - Garrett? Graham? was very friendly and accomodating)
by Annie S. on Live DJ, reasonably priced drinks -- and NO COVER before 10 pm??? It was a great Friday night. The space is cozy but not cramped. Great range in music selection. Definitely recommended for a group. We had about 10 people out for my husband's birthday and there were seats and room to dance and mingle.
by Ka Mills on I love San Francisco history. I love reading about the Gold Rush and the Barbary Coast days. I'm fascinated by any place that is part of that history. The Great American Music Hall is one of these places. From being a nightclub to a dance hall to a jazz club to the fantastic live music venue it is now (if these walls could talk!) You can sit at a table and comfortably listen to the band, or you can get out on the dance floor. Upstairs or downstairs, the sound is great. GAMH is truly San Francisco gem.
