I want to own this club. Another Ratecluber said that Slide used to be a speakeasy -- which I can see, easily. What looked to me to be the VIP entrance of Ruby Skye, was actually Slide (that rhymes - I am so giving up my day job). The bouncers were nice - complimenting me and my friend and thanking us for dressing up and looking so nice. Thank me? No, thank YOU, big man. No cover. Yep, that's right. No cover. Loves it. A club with deux ways to enter - how pimp. You can either slide right in or walk down the stairs. Unfortunately, I have a fear of heights so sliding is out of the question for me. We had a beer and a grapefruit and vodka (the bartender said to me -- you mean a vodka and grapefruit?) for $15; quite reasonable considering there was no cover. The bartenders were sweet and very attentive. Even as the night went by and they were slammed -- they were incredibly efficient. The crowd? Pure European hotness - lots of tourists and potential models. The music was fantastic - Frenchy Le Freak was there to DJ and there were even live tribal drummers working it in with the crowd. The resident DJ was good - mixing house, techno - without the help of a laptop or ipod or ipad, which I always appreciate. The club is classy, fun and super cool - it oozes that SF vibe that is inviting and international. I can't wait to come back.

Tavern is the most friendly welcoming bar I've ever been to in my life. If your 21 or 51 there's something for everybody. A cool piano bar for people to sing there drunken hearts out and a small dance floor upstairs to dance your brains out, and all with no cover. Great food in the basement resturant. It's no wonder that it's voted the best gay bar in the city. Woodys is yesterday and Sisters is YAWN.
