My perspective is a tad different than other people's here - I know the Mezz as an Event Manager who has done multiple events here. I speak from the experience of someone who has done events at everything from the Four Seasons to tents in parking lots. My feelings are the Mezz is a fabulous place. For a number of reasons: 1) Helpfulness. Present them with an issue or problem, and the staff will come up with a helpful, creative solution. Whether it was finding a way for us to transport awkward sized platters, dealing with drunken VIPs, they're going to be helpful. 2) Friendliness. Nary a cranky one in the bunch. Lots of smiles, lots of laughs, lots of going out of their way. One cocktail waitress, who on finding out that my volunteers were busing our VIP party, including the drinks and glasses, started taking care of me personally, asking me over and over what she could do to assist me. 3) Not penny pinching. Too many venues come back with an additional listing of niggly little bills ($4.22 for this, $3.17 for that, etc) for every single thing that isn't negotiated in advance. No business is in the business of handing lots of freebies out, but when I needed ear plugs for some of my volunteers, or at the last minute needed an extra 6ft table, I didn't have to pay them for each individual set, kind of thing. 4) Punctuality. When they say their staff will be there at X time to start setting up, and that set-up will by done by Y-time, in my experience, they actually mean it. At too many places I've worked, I've had to re-jig my entire sked because the venue's own set-up was an hour behind schedule. Not at Mezz. 5) The facilities. If you are doing ANY sort of event that requires a cordoned off VIP area, Mezz is the place to go. Their set-up allows for a small VVIP area, or two larger VIP areas, and each is different enough to make the people present in them feel well taken care of. My only wish would be running water outside of the bathrooms. :)

I have mixed feelings about how my party planning went down (I was stuck with planning a bachelorette party & I wasn't even in the wedding) but at the end of the night, we all had a fantastic time. I wanted us to have dinner and see the show. Our party of 10/11 got put downstairs for a "private party" and meal of appetizers because we were too big. None of us were stoked about the food. I had heard good things about their dinners though, so I have a feeling the dinners are better. My biggest problem with the food was that none of it was hot when it got to us. Or maybe when it got to my mouth. But, you know what? Paul and Patrick (our "host") were super accommodating and great. My camera batteries died. Paul ran across the street and bought me some batteries (technically I bought them - but it was an "I buy you fly" scenario that allowed me to stay at the bachelorette party while my guests - and the bachelorette - were still arriving.) And the food kept coming until we stopped ordering. We shouldn't have stopped ordering was the thing. I also talked to Noah who was just as nice as Paul and went the extra mile to make sure we got into Ruby Skye that night. When it was Club Time downstairs, it got pleasantly packed and the music was a blast. Paul and Patrick were sharing DJing duties and they were doing a great job. I will go again, but I will do dinner upstairs.

I hate to admit it but I can see why this is a popular place to take a friend for his (or her) birthday in Atlanta. The real appeal with this place is the fact that it is one big, kind of gross, joke. No one really wants to go somewhere on a regular basis and see...ugh, sorry I got sick for a second.....and see 50 year old women dancing for money. It is really funny though to look at the expression on that unsuspecting friends face when he or she receives the lap dance that you secretly purchased for them. This place also has a pretty good deal on Pabst Blue Ribbon beers, which are usually consumed in a typical cheap redneck looking aluminum can.
