I've been here before to get appetizers and beers before/after a game. Good sports bar vibe and a great location. But as a nightclub, it needs a lot of work. * A friend of a friend was spinning in the Double Cross Lounge (according to the flyers). But I knew that The Greatest Bar had four floors to it, so I wasn't sure which one he was on. "Which floor is the Double Cross Lounge on?" I asked the bouncers. They didn't know. * Neither did the girl working the door, whom I paid the $5 cover to. The DJ had put me on some sort of list, but that information never made its way downstairs. The girl at the front door didn't even think there was such a list. $5 isn't going to kill me - rateclubs don't love the short money, after all - but c'mon. * Apparently, the Boston Room (4th floor) is the "Double Cross Lounge." But neither the bouncers downstairs, the girl I paid the cover to, the coat check girls or the door staff ON THE FOURTH FLOOR knew this. From one marketer to another, guys, your branding efforts suck. * Six dollar Bud Lights. I know, it's a club downtown, what should I expect, I should man up and pay the $8 for a watery mixed drink, etc, etc. * The ratio of guys-to-girls never dipped below eight-to-one the entire evening. In the final analysis, no worse than some other clubs I've been to. But I don't know that I'd come back here again if it weren't someone I knew DJing.

I don't care what you guys say, Geno's is effing delicious. I dream of Cheez Whiz. Sure, Pat's is good too, but for some reason I always pick Geno's. Maybe I'm drawn like a moth into all of those lights.

Best place to view the city after dark! With all around windows, from high atop the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, you'll love the view. Add to the view: a jazz combo, waitresses decked out in evening wear,  and strong drinks, what's not to love? You wouldn't be surprised to see anyone of the Rat Pack at the other end of the bar. No cover on Sundays, Mondays or Tuesdays, from Wednesday on its $10 after 8:30PM and $15 on Saturday. Drinks are a little spendy, but no more than you'd expect in a major city starting at about $10. If that doesn't phase you, they have a menu of 'Million Dollar Cocktails', starting at $80 for the 'Heavenly Dram', a drink that combines Macallan's 25- year-old single-malt Scotch and Garvey Pedro Ximenez Sherry (1860) or if you've won the lottery try the 'Drinking the Stars': a mixture of Chateau de Ravignan 1979 Armagnac and Dom Perignon. Starting at only $375 for a 750 ml (bottle-size) drink and $650 for a magnum (aprox. two bottles). Bottoms Up!
