I love 1 Oak and I'm pretty sure 1 Oak loves me. The guest DJ was banging, (a collection of house music) the space is undoubtedly la femme chic. It's a pretty scene, filled with all kinds of interesting people, given the night. The night was indeed completed with the accompany of my fabulous ladies. If you're not in love with this place, you're either one of two things... a hater...or this place is NOT your scene. Where do you fit in the picture? It is definitely one of the hot spots in the city...and shall remain that way for quite some time. And yes, of course, it's a little pretentious....it wouldn't be a lounge in the Meatpacking District if it weren't! I love it anyways!

Yep, this place is another hidden icon that is surely reviving it's jewel-like status in downtown. My grandparents watched vaudeville here in the 30's, my mom saw the Everly Brothers here in the 50's and for the last 5 years, I been able to relish in the Orpheum's glory as a volunteer for the LA Conservancy. Every May/June the LAC's Last Remaining Seats show vintage movies at the Orpheum and many other historic theatres in the Los Angeles area. http://ww.laconservanc... One last thing, check out the Broadway Bar next door! Did someone say cocktails?

We were only here for drinks so this is not a review of the food. This is a great bar with no scene and a friendly waitress. I'm not a huge drinker so I tend to get water or shirley temples in bars and I like to see how the bartender reacts when I get shirley temples and this one was great. No judgement just gave me my shirley temple along with the fiancee's Ethiopian beer. We had a great time catching up with old friends. I highly reccomend stopping in before concerts at The Independent across the street.
