by j k. on This has to be the best bar in NYC. I don't want to tell people about it because it gets really crowded already but then again it is just that great of a place. First it started with a coat check for just $2! Awesome. Don't have to worry about my stuff. So great. Then, we went to the bathrooms --while small there was never a line and it was PACKED. Then, we went to get a drink. The bar NEVER let you wait more than a few mins. And we got a beer and mixed drink. $11 bucks! I dont know about you but I think that is GREAT for a bar on the LES. Most places I pay $11 for one drink. Then....and this is the best part...THE MUSIC. OMG....the DJ on Friday night is amazing. Literally didn't play ONE bad song. We couldn't sit down. It was a great mix of hip hop, top 40, reggae, old school hip hop, etc. Great mixes and classic songs that I have NEVER heard played at the club. You will NEVER here the same old tired songs at this place. Needless to say...I will be back here MANY more times. I'm even thinking of having my bday party there as well. It's a great place...hands down. I also loved walking by the people trying to get into The Eldridge. They looked stupid considering there is a MUCH better place right down the street.
by Stephanie K. on Ecco never disappoints!! I have been here for an office holiday party, drinks, and a few times for dinner. I live close enough to walk, so it makes it even more convenient (parking can be a bit of a challenge, but you can always check out the guest parking at Post Biltmore or Spire if you don't want to valet). The restaurant isn't huge, but is very smartly designed. Service is always impeccable and you can't go wrong with any items on their menu (especially during Fifth Group's 2 for 1 deals). I will always order the fried goat cheese, honey and black pepper appetizer. The flavor combination is intoxicating. And, as stated, it's fried...you can't go wrong. I love olives, so I'll usually order a bowl of them and these are great to nosh on. I've also sampled the peppers and various meats and cheeses. Nothing has ever disappointed. The grilled romaine plate is good, but nothing extraordinary. The pizzas are great to share as a late-night accompaniment to some wine or cava. I love the trout with mustard sauce and the farro is out of this world. As if it hasn't been said enough, go and enjoy. Ecco is always a go-to place when I want a nice dinner.
by Eboni Saltzberg on I really want to do a concert review more than anything, but I'll try to stick to the facts. DEERHOOF last night was amazing. Ok, the Avalon itself is a pretty cool, really good sized venue. I like the levels so you can stand back if you need, it wasn't too crowded either. Security was nice, and at one point a chick passed out and I told the security guard and he quickly assessed the situation. I wouldn't mind coming here for more shows.
