If I ever come here for the food I may have to update this review. I imagine the whole place must have a completely different vibe if I'm coming here to get brunch. Trying to imagine what it's like with tables and servers and food during a music event here is difficult. And about the music... there's soooooo much potential at this venue. The view looking across the Bay is just fabulous. And the two floor spacing (huge upstairs, smaller downstairs) definitely warrants some multi-functionality. For EDM, the sound at Kelly's upstairs is bad. The top floor place suffers from being really long, and without any speakers past the stage, the impression that I got walking in from the back of the hall was "this place is weak." The first floor had a better setup for sound, but it was also way too crowded to do much of anything except step on other people's toes. I don't like how the bar upstairs was behind the stage, but I don't like how people are inclined to walk through the crowd to get to the bar... there is another entrance coming from the outside. And there was another bar completely unused at the back of the hall. Why didn't they setup there? Most of my issues with Kelly's is the interior layout... +1 for running until 4 am. The whole place is rather grungy, but +1 for random couches / seating. The events I've been to were a bit expensive - not worth the price for the whole experience. I could imagine Kelly's hosting an amazing jazz show however.

So, here's the thing.... PBR's for 2.50. A pocket full of dollar bills. Blondie and her magic beer crushing titays. Pink backing it up to monster hip hop jams from the 90's. George T. and Kathleen M. getting masterful lap dances from senior citizens. The glow of neon. Best going away shindig of all time. Hands down.

Stars off based on a few things: - Bottle service seriously lacked. In fact, buyer beware ($200 for Grey Goose, p.s.) We had to march ourselves to the bar all night so we could get drinks. Seriously, what did I just pay money for then? - They cleared away the birthday cupcakes I made for my two friends without even double-checking if that was okay. Christ, ask first! - That damn marble floor. Tough on my knees and especially tough on the drunk ho's who are too unsteady for that bullshiz... it's comedy to watch the latter though...
