I wanted sooooo to like FLIP. It's right around the corner from where I work and live and ALL MY FRIENDS LIKE IT, too!! Went there for lunch and was instantly like "oh my god, why are we sitting junior high lunch table style!?" All the tables were kind of smashed together in the middle with a few booths against the wall. It was kinda crowded and we ended up sitting (as my boss put it) elbow to asshole with strangers. The service was kinda.... wonky. Because we were seated so close together I had NO FREAKING IDEA WHO THE WAITRESS WAS TALKING TO!!! The fries were limp and soggy, the overly expensive burger was lack luster and bland. I mean, the lettuce had more flavor than the actual burger. We got one of the milkshakes that my so called mates said was SO AMAZING... it was... I mean... I secretly wept. One time, my gran made me an Ovaltine milkshake with ice instead of icecream... that's what this tasted like. The disappointment of childhood. ...just thinking about it makes me all gloomy. Thanks for bringing up bad memories, Flip! [boohoohoo] But really, if you're in the mood for a burger go right up the road to the Defoors Centre. You won't regret it.

Came here Saturday of Memorial weekend. My friend got me and my cousins on the guest list. Since my cousins were from out of town, I knew they wanted to check out the SF nightlife, since they were from L.A. When we got there, we were still too early. There were no $5 shots. There were not enough men. The place was urber small and narrow. And my little group got stared down by a couple of BW, because why? I just won't know because them BW got more guys on them, which is fine by me because I don't need a guy trying to grind up on me. The drinks were 'eh'. The music was the only thing that was good. By the time the place started to get crowded there were tons of Amazonian women and bachelorettes that I could count. Also couldn't forget the two guys in cowboy getups, one whom pushed my cousin. Although I'm grateful for my friend for hooking me up, but I don't think I'll be back.

i've been to mezzanine a number of times and it's reminded of the difference between "a bar that plays music" and a "club". i really appreciate how clean and spacious the inside of this place is. there's more than one bar, a smoking section, and they seem to really explore the space with performances. the door staff this past monday (for lady SOV) was funny, jovial, and didn't make my girlfriend and i feel intimidated as do most door staff personal (read: goons).
